Lovely city close to the beach and marina. Tourist attractions such as Santa Barbara Castle and The Ocean Race were free. The Castle is well worth visiting, with wonderful views of the city and sea. I was disappointed that the toilets were filthy and lacking basic amenities such as toilet paper and hand dryer. There's a fee of €2.70 for the lift. However, I would have preferred to pay a small entrance fee and have clean toilets. There's a nice cafe at the top with great staff. I would not recommend Alicante for solo travellers. It's very couple or groups orientated and the staff in restaurants are not friendly for lone travellers. I also found food and drink prices very expensive.HelenIreland - 10Scored 10

Alicante is a lovely city and you even have a decent beach so it really is the best of both worlds. Good tram system. 45 mins to Benidorm and also 2.5 hours to Valencia for any other day trips outside of Alicante.Mulligan - 10Scored 10

A city full of history with many interesting places to visits.I recommend the two Arts Museums and a visit to Santa Barbara Castle for the views.La Esplanada is great for a stroll and a drink at night.I ate out every day in a different restaurant and found the food choices varied and good and reasonably priced,I usually eat Spanish food on holiday but also had dinner in a Moroccan restaurant which was excellent.There is a wide variety of other types of meals available to suit all tastes.Used the C6 bus from and to the Airport.It runs regularly(I caught one at 6am to the airport)and costs 2.80 euros although as a pensioner I only paid 1 euro.The only thing I would warn about are the pavements.They are quite uneven in some places especially the older streets and I nearly took a fall.A lady passing warned me to keep an eye on where I was walking and I followed her advice safely for the rest of my visit.

My 2nd night there I was jumped by 2 black males.
My 2nd night there I was jumped by 2 black males. My phone was stole and left very shaken. The police were absolutely useless. No help what so ever. My phone had all my details on it and was very important to me. I was able to supply the IMEI No. To trace it but Police said NO we don't trace But if we find it we will contact you.. Sat in the Police station for ½day for no reason. Very dissapointed.. Other than that, the town itself is absolutely beautiful, very well priced, stunning views e.t.c , my horrendous start to the holiday wouldn't stop me going back but I definitely will be taking better precautions.

Alicante is a compact town, but it has all you need for a comfortable stay. One of the most beautiful marine promenade, sandy beach, great food, lots of bars and shops, friendly locals. Add the sun, the historical architecture and the unique landscape of the place and enjoy!

I really enjoyed Alicante.
I really enjoyed Alicante. It was authentically Spanish and multicultural with many Moroccan and Algerian cafes and restaurants in the urban area in which I stayed. The Esplanade is a very attractive area with good tree cover providing shade on the promenade. There are some lovely boutiques and clothes shops in the centre. I loved the Mercado, with its fish and meat markets and the MOBAG art gallery was showing a fantastic exhibition of drawings by Salvidor Dali. Prices for meals and drinks are very reasonable. I felt very safe as a solo female traveller and had no issues whatsoever. I used the bus service and the tram-train regularly and was really impressed with their efficiency and regularity. I was also impressed by the traffic flow in the city and the suburbs. there were no traffic jams, no speeding and all drivers drove carefully, whether in cars, motorbikes, or indeed e-scooters (which are allowed on the roads). The population look happy and content and seems to have a balanced lifestyle. I shall return.McGowran

There's not too many supermarkets around for such a residential area, so I was glad that the cleanest supermarket I have ever been in was around the corner from the apartment. I was holidaying by myself and found great peace of mind that the studio was in a gated community and there was 24 hour security. This is the first time that I have holidayed in Spain where wifi was promised and wifi was delivered. Not only that but Netflix and Amazon Prime was also available.

Superb Pool area, bar and restaurant they were all excellent, we stayed half board, the choice and quality of food was outstanding. Ideal location, beach 10 mins walk and 5mins to Tram ride taking you to Alicante or Benidorm and very cheap fare. The staff were friendly and could not do enough for you. Also roof top bar and pool a bonus but unfortunately no open until mid March. Would definitely return and highly recommend the hotel.

The staff always treats me like an extension of the family!! They are the ONLY hostel with a bar and cafe. I love waking up and heading downstairs for some fresh squeezed orange juice and a tostada 😋. In the evening, I indulge myself with their top tier craft beers 🍻. The best thing was waking up next to a big window with a huge view of the sea and the sunrise streaming in, with a coffee from the machine. It is a quiet area with a nice beach nearby. Not many restaurants, but only a 6 minute tram ride to the bustle of the Alicante sea front. So it was the perfect formula, out in the city for drinks and food, then home to tranquility and a good sleep, followed by a glorious way to wake up the next morning.

It was clean, spacious, with a big window, very comfortable bed and a great shower. The woman who was working was very friendly and extremely helpful. The location is perfect, a short walk to the beach, restaurants and the bus station. I will definitely book a room there again.

There is a cafe bar attached for breakfast but I didn`t use so cannot comment.
