Another faultless stay at Greyfriars. This time it was in room 1 - Marcela Suite which is absolutely beautiful and so spacious. Gorgeous bathroom with double brass embossed sinks.
Food/drinks as amazing as always. Thanks

Colchester is a brilliant town to visit, you have the old and new part to walk round ranging from a good collection of shops and food outlets to browse and walking round the various churches, castle, monastery ruins and lovely parks.
The town is within walking distance of both train stations, taxis are plenty also. Take a good pair of comfy walking attire for feet as you will be walking up and down gradients!! A great place to visit on the local bus is Manningtree where there is a antiques emporium to walk round with a great cafe in the high street for food.
If visiting Colchester for the first time I recommend staying at least a minimum of 4 days as their is a lot to see of interest. Lots of charity shops too!!
For families do visit Colchester Zoo which is a great day out, this can be reached by bus also if you do not drive.

Town centre easy to walk round and explore and topped off with a fabulous meal at China Chef!

Colchester is a gem.
Colchester is a gem. Lovely architecture and sights, good cafes and pubs, shopping and eateries. It's not at all dog friendly, though, which is a big drawback if you ask me. Come on, Colchester, Britain loves its pets!
The hotel is in an excellent location, quiet but within walking distance of the town and the castle. The free on-site parking was great. The room was lovely; comfortable bed, great shower, great WiFi and the fridge was a bonus. The best thing however, was the people there. They were so friendly and helpful. It makes all the difference. This is where we stay when we visit family in Colchester. Thank you to everyone at Star Anglia for making our wedding anniversary so special.
Very convenient location near centre of the city. Excellent breakfast with wide choice of foods. Quiet room. The hotel and rooms all very clean. Pleasant and friendly staff. Delighted that the hotel was open over Christmas to enable us to be with family who live in Colchester. Thank you to the people who were working over Christmas.
Excellent value. Stayed one night in a standard double. Location spot on, short drive to Colchester and it's environs, plenty of parking at the hotel, pleasant ambience inside and out. Very helpful staff on reception and in the restaurant, where we had some very nice food from the starter menu when we arrived.
Student accommodation made available during the summer holidays, located on the Uni Campus.
As such, it is a bit bare-bones but good value for the money.
Essex Uni Campus is on the outskirts of Colchester, dorms well clear of busy traffic. Parking and public transport on site.
The room was smart and modern and very clean and spacious. Enjoyed the breakfast which is served over the road in The George, the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location in the centre of this historic town and I would not hesitate to use it again.
Friendly personnel. The hotel has a very good restaurant (also used for breakfast). Beds were good; clean room. Parking on public road is possible in front of the hotel if there is space (free of charge from 6pm-8am). Location is good to explore Colchester.
The property was an excellent choise for us. Being Central to Colchester and not to far away from the Univercity where we spend the day at our daughters graduation. The host was excellent and was very responsive to any questions we had.
The staff were very helpful, friendly, and polite, the food was cooked to a high standard, my room was comfortable and clean, I would definitely recommend the hotel, and would most certainly stay there again if I am in Colchester
We stayed for our son’s graduation. This hotel is perfectly located for this event. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a busy week for the hotel but it was always quiet and peaceful.
We have stayed before and it is a lovely hotel in great location in centre of Colchester. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and the food in the restaurant is excellent
Great central location for Colchester. Excellent shower, comfortable room. The receptionist at the George Hotel was exceptional I wish I had asked for his name
Have used this hotel a few times when spending a day and night in Colchester. Great Central location,.friendly and helpful staff. Beds clean an comfortable
