St. Albans is a large town/ small city, with a good number...
St. Albans is a large town/ small city, with a good number of interesting old buildings, including a medieval bell tower, and several museums, including the excellent museum of Roman artefacts on the far side of the large park which drops down from the cathedral. The cathedral is a must if you are into old buildings, with its Norman tower made from Roman bricks among many other features. I was also made very welcome when I joined them for worship. The town has very good pubs, cafes and restaurants, and an extensive street market on certain days. The town itself probably merits a leisurely weekend stay if you enjoy lingering in the cafes, but the Thameslink trains make a day in London very easy, and, if you like old planes, a visit to the De Havilland museum ( no. 84 bus from the town centre ) is well worth it ( rather long walk up the drive from the bus stop, but there is parking at the museum if you take your car. )

St Albans is a very friendly town with people opening doors and being kind and considerate.
We ate in whetherspoons in their Tudor barns and they also had an outdoor area to eat and drink if no rain! The pricing of everything we ate and drank was of good value and was very clean.
There was lots of places we wanted to visit but most of our holiday it rained! But we did visit the shops which are all different and have different price ranges and styles.

I was there for work so didn't really have a chance to look around the place. I managed a visit to the cathedral which is a marvellous hulk of a mediaeval building and still an active place of worship. Wel worth a visit.

Lovely small city with several historic sights (cathedral, Roman ruins) as well as streets of historic houses, large park areas, plenty of good shops including coffee shops and restaurants and a good vibe.
We had a spacious, comfortable bedroom on the first floor and enjoyed our breakfast which offered lots of choice. The setting is impressive and just a short walk to the City centre and the Cathedral along a very characterful and historic street. The staff were very friendly and helpful and because we were attending a function there on the day of our departure they were very accommodating regarding a delayed checkout time.
Ardmore House Hotel is clean and comfortable, with a good restaurant, excellent breakfasts and nice staff. It ticks all the boxes for a good hotel. It has lights that work including over the bathroom basin and a good bedside light. It also has tissues and writing paper. These are the little extras that turn a three star hotel into a very good three star hotel. Highly recommended.
We had a spacious and comfortable room, with a large bed, cosy duvet and really nice pillows.
The town centre is within easy walking distance from the hotel and there is ample space in their car park.
The breakfast was very nice, with a buffet of continental items and a cooked breakfast provided to order.
I would be very happy to stay here again in the future.
Don't be deceived by the rather tatty apearance of the front door and hallways, the appartment itself is very good, very comfortable and right in the heart of St Albans city centre. It's close to all the best restaurants and bars and is a short walk from the Abbey and park. A very comfortable bed. Highly recomended if your on your own or a couple.
The hotel is perfectly located to explore St Albans and the parking facilities provided are a big plus. The staff are very professional and welcoming and the facilities are excellent. This was our second stay at this hotel and we will certainly look forward to staying again.
The breakfast was delicious. The grounds are also stunning with a beautiful view from the terrace. The spa is also stunning - spacious, clean, luxurious and pretty quiet in the evenings. This is the second time we've stayed at the hotel and would return indeed.
breakfast decent, area is convenient has stores outside and a bus stop right outside the hotel to get out of the town. But apart from that you will need to go everywhere with that one bus/taxi and then transfer to the city by train or tube.
The room was a great size, plenty for myself and my partner. The location is ideal if you want to walk into the city centre and only a short walk from the train station. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel but plenty of options close by.
Everything was good, the breakfast, the staff and the room. The hotel location is perfect with free parking and facilities close to the hotel such us Petrol station, car wash, supermarket, restaurants and shopping stores
Very good location close to city centre with parking facilities. Room was warm, lots of hot water and the main bed was comfortable with good linen. Overall it was very clean and was ideal for our requirements.
The free parking so close to the center of St Albans is a plus and it's easy to walk around and explore the local area. The view of the cathedral from the St Alban room was great.
the building was beautiful and had a lot of character. the gardens on the grounds were beautiful. I felt like I was in England and not some cookie cutter chain hotel
