I grew up in St. John's and it is a great spot for a visit.
I grew up in St. John's and it is a great spot for a visit. The facilities for tourists have really increased over the last 20 years and there are a lot of great restaurants and shops for tourists to experience. The sites in a city that is 400 years old are quite varied and there is ready access to nature visiting sites as well within an hour of the city core.
Pack for pretty variable weather that trends to cooler and damper.

The city offers so much history and with a wonderful presentation at The Rooms. We had a fun screeched in ceremony at Christians with skipper Lukey. The view from signal Hill shows it all. Cape spear and Quidi Vidi can not be missed as well. Especially having lunch at the Mallard Cottage and an Iceberg at the brew company. The waterfront in St. John’s is very interesting and worth the walk.

We stayed at this hotel upon arriving at the airport at 2:30 am.
Shuttle was waiting by the time we got to the pick up point. Great service. Friendly reception. Sufficient breakfast offerings. Great staff in all areas. Perfect for our needs.
Unexpectedly, we spent a second night at the end of our trip when our flight to Toronto was cancelled. Again--great staff in all areas.

Loved the Harbour and the pedestrian mall.
Loved the Harbour and the pedestrian mall. Very hilly, I will definitely be in better shape before my next visit (the unexpected humidity was exhausting, but we made the best of that!)
Everything was close by, very easy to get around.

Best recommendation is: Take the Metro Bus from your hotel to the Pedestrian Plaza on Water Street for shopping and restaurants. It is closed off for the summer and the shopping is delightful. Lots of outdoor patios. We chose one of the outdoor pubs for fish and chips and a local brew. Perfect! Now walk up the stairs at the Courthouse and see the Jelly Bean Houses. Pier 10 is a great place to see the cruise ships docking. Just down the hill from Water Street, this is where the bus lets you off. Catch the Hop on Hop off for lots of sights - located outside of the Alt Hotel on Water Street.

St-John's and the whole Newfoundland is a very unique place.
St-John's and the whole Newfoundland is a very unique place. If you love nature , it is the place for you , yet it also has great restaurants and nightlife and the people there are amazingly friendly and proud of their culture and province . There is a lot of talent from there and the art is amazing .So they will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and bring you the best experience ever. !
The ALT Hotel in St. John's Newfoundland, is located on the harbour in the heart of Jelly Bean Row. It's a photographer's paradise. My small dog, Sparky, and I roamed the streets snapping photographs of the wonderfully coloured houses and stores. The hotel is also close to the famous George Street the location of nightly live musical performances and Water Street with its vast selection of good restaurants. Loved the neighbourhood! Lynda L. Lock (author of the Isla Mujeres Mysteries and also the Death in the Vineyards Mysteries).
Super homey and clean; hosts were so friendly and helpful with the luggage for the elderly (in their 80s) as they happened to be around when we arrived. Detail-oriented (i.e. the only place providing filtered water during our 11-day trip across the Newfoundland, which was much appreciated by those who would prefer not to drink the tap water). It's got everything anyone would need to stay very comfortablely, it's truly like going home.
The Duckworth is mine and my boyfriend’s favourite hotel in St Johns. Everytime we visit the city we want to be downtown, not for the bars but for the feel of downtown. The Duckworth is square downtown, affordable, clean, and the old building is beautiful. I think we have stayed in every room possible now and will never stay in another hotel as long as the Duckworth is available.
I was so impressed with the Inn after staying there on my first night in Newfoundland, I booked to stay again on my last night. It's a good value choice just a short walk from the waterfront and the bars and restaurants of Water Street.
Rooms are comfortable and cosy and John the breakfast chef was entertaining and cooked great eggs.
Anne was terrific. She made us feel right at home and cooked us delicious breakfasts with a Newfoundland spin. The room was spacious (we had number 7 on the top floor), comfortable, and quiet. And the location was perfect … walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and sights such as The Rooms and the basilica. Highly recommended.
Great location! Downtown and walking distance to a lot of fun bars, galleries, workshops. Good restaurant in the ground floor as well! Restaurant was a bit pricey for me but I am a broke-ish grad student so that obviously impacts my opinion. Really good bacon cheeseburger. Hotel itself is a completely reasonable price!
The property upheld to a high standard of cleanliness. The rooms, restaurant and every part of this hotel was clean. The staff was soo friendly and helpful throughout our stay and accommodating. This stay was the absolute best experience out of other hotels that I’ve stayed at here in Newfoundland.
This hotel is located 3 minutes from the airport! They provided a shuttle to our flight at 330am and added complimentary snack packs as we were gone before breakfast.
The staff are so nice & the facilities are clean and amazing! Great pool, hottub & waterslide! Definitely recommend(:
I love everything about the Delta. It is my go to hotel when staying in St. John's. Amazing staff, food and facilities and you never have to worry about the cleanliness because even before covid it was immaculate!
It is in a great location and it is lovely and quiet. I enjoyed staying in a hotel unique to the city of St. John's.
The staff was friendly and it was great to have the breakfast snacks and drinks. Thank you.
We have stayed here before, and absolutely love the location, as it’s close to everything downtown. We also love the rustic charm and how cozy this hotel feels compared to the newer “box hotel” chains
The bartender was exceptional...Morris? I think?
Beautiful place... far and above any other hotel in st john's Newfoundland
Worth every penny
Even the soaps and so on were exquisite 👌
It was a wonderful quaint boutique hotel. It was charming and well located downtown. Loved that there was dinning and a bar downstairs. Would stay again in a second!
