Seafarer Inn & Suites, Ascend Hotel Collection, hotel in Jekyll Island

Seafarer Inn & Suites, Ascend Hotel Collection is the closest hotel to area golf and tennis and only 110 yards from the beach.

Excellent location and staff was wonderful. We rented bikes from Seafarer to go to Driftwood Beach in morning and were accommodated with late checkout so we could shower afterward. Free breakfast included lots of variety.

Jekyll is one of the few quiet beaches left and it is a special place. You will see deer grazing, secluded beach spots at the south end of the island, driftwood beach is a must see and some great dining options. The Jekyll Island Club is also a must-see property and you could spend a day just in that area with all there is to offer. Be sure to bring a bike if you ride, the trails are great. Most recommended beach!

The various beach options gave us different sunrises and sunsets each night! A very short walk to the ocean beachfront from the hotel. The turtle hospital was very unique. The eagle walk was awesome too. And Driftwood Beach is entirely different than any other beach I've travelled to. It was beautiful, peaceful, and yet sort of spooky. We will be back with our bikes the next visit!

WARNING: If you have car trouble (hit a curb damaged two tires and then some), as we did, just know that it is not easy to get an Uber or any other car service in town, as there is a $10 fee to enter the island, which we didn't know about until we drove in, and some car service drivers are not willing to pay the fee to pick you up. Some may even ask you to cover that fee or add it to their tip. It is not impossible to get a car service, but it is not as easy as you may be accustomed to from a major city and you may have to wait, so especially if you are there over the weekend, as we were, be sure to make arrangements as soon as possible, as many car shops in the area might be closed on Sundays. We ended up having to extend our stay in nearby Brunswick at the Embassy Suites until we could get our car situation sorted out, which was another awesome hotel to stay in anyway, so overall, it could have been much worse. Jekyll Island is a great place to visit. It is a beautiful island for a relaxing weekend. Be sure to visit Driftwood Beach; it is stunning. Also visit the Jekyll Island Club Resort and the Westin while you're there, unless you're already staying at either location, of course. Plan to have a meal at the Jekyll Island Club Resort Restaurant, especially if you are celebrating a special occasion. We hope you can share our optimistic spirit and despite any adversity you may encounter, as we did during this trip, you can be grateful it wasn't worse and continue on your merry way... ;0P

We were interested in the history of the island and found the trolley tour to be very informative. As we were there in the fall the island was not full of visitors and the weather was perfect! No trouble easily navigating the island and lovely walks on the beach! Dinner at the Driftwood Bistro was convenient and moderately priced. The stuffed collard greens were delicious.

As a long time visitor, I can tell you that Jekyll Island is still a beautiful place to go to if you want to relax and get away but it’s now in danger of becoming another over-developed tourist destination. The Jekyll Island Authority needs to impose a moratorium on new development before the place becomes just another overcrowded island. Once Jekyll Island loses its charm, it’s gone.

The beach at Jekyll and the atmosphere is peaceful and beautiful - ideal for walking, hiking , biking and generally being in a place of nature. Do not miss Driftwood Beach. We had dinner at Driftwood Restaurant and lunch at Zachary's - both were great choices. We toured the Jekyll Island Club and will definitely stay there at some point. It would make a wonderful holiday destination. The history of the club and the island in general is quite interesting.

The hotel is lovely. The pool area is very tasteful and looks nice be a use all the security fencing is covered with greenery. There are two outdoor fire pits light at night. Good quality loungers by the pool and chairs in the gardens overlooking the sea. The sea is a short walk from the gardens. The room was nicely serviced when we were out. The receptionists were most helpful and friendly. We hired two bikes from the hotel, efficient and easy. Free sodas and water in the fridge. Nice little touches .

The breakfast was ok - as best as it can be with this pandemic. The location is excellent. The size of the room was awful - I've never stayed in such a small room - considered changing hotels seriously because it was so small. We had several spiders - ugh. Cleanliness was pretty good. This hotel has a lot of things going for it but the room being so small made it miserable.

Did not like reservation or cancellation system at hotel… were booked before Hurricane Idalia struck. Our stay was supposed to be 8/31 thru 9/4. Could not travel from Florida to Georgia because we were advised to stay off the roads. Never received Discover CREDIT for cancelled hotel days. Will reach out to my local TV station who handle complaints. Hope to get some TV time.

I brought my service dog very pet friendly. My dog is trained to find stuff and immediacy found a fake mouse under bed. Must of been a cat toy but I wonder if they really clean under the bed when people leave. I showed it to the Manager he never asked my name room or number. Just dismissed me as “it is not real”. odd right? Like he thought I had planted it in the room.

Close proximity to the beach. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Moved from a second floor room with a strong odor… maybe cleaning agent, to a first floor room that was perfect. It may have been an upgrade. Parking was sufficient and convenient. Breakfast was good. Coffee was good and always available. Facility was clean and well kept. Pet friendly.

The staff at the Westin were the absolute best! Always eager to help and went above and beyond what was asked! I can’t wait to go back! The food was excellent. We left a wedding reception to go back and eat the braised short ribs at the hotel! Delicious! Wonderful views of the ocean while in the room and while dining!
