This was a cute little cottage. It is a bit older so the bathroom was not as modern as we would have liked, but very functional. The farm has a fantastic restaurant and provides an amazing breakfast. The area (Myvatn) was not our favourite, but thankful we stayed at the farm which helped our stay.
Located within 2.6 km of Myvatn Nature Baths, Birkilauf in Myvatn has a number of amenities, including lake and mountain views.

The drive over through the mountains (if you decide not to take the toll road via Akureyri) is already a treat before you arrive at a unique location in a natural park located in the northern part of Iceland. Our bedroom had an en suite bathroom, and was clean. Waking up to see a fresh (thin) layer of snow covered the outside area was a big bonus. The common space has enough room to not bump into the occupants of the other rooms, and the kitchen is well stocked.
Situated in Myvatn and only 6.5 km from Myvatn Nature Baths, Slow Travel Mývatn - Þúfa - Private Homestay features accommodation with lake views, free WiFi and free private parking.

Lovely location with a view across to a volcano. Very comfortable apartment that was perfect for us travelling with adult children. Hosts were friendly and helpful.
Eldá Guesthouse is located in Reykjahlíð, just a few minutes on foot from Lake Myvatn. There is a golf course 750 metres from the property. Each room includes a work desk, a wash basin and free WiFi.
It's a beautiful lava field and lake system. Old volcanos and lava flows. Dimmuborgir is a legendary place where the Yule Lads sleep through the summer. Bear in mind that the summer can have hatches of midges.
Krafla Power Station, active geothermal mud pools, Mývatn Nature Baths.
If you travel in the winter it's a great place to see the Aurora as practically no light pollution.
Obviously it's not as nice as Akureyri, but I would say that as I live there

Myvatn Lake certainly has beautiful scenery and the weather is typically warmer than the coast. For the full service/hotel travelers I would recommend Fosshotel. For campers there is plenty of accommodations.

So much to see and do in this area!
So much to see and do in this area! Thankfully we were up and out just after nine! We packed in so much! Lots to see down the eastern side of the lake. Each activity offered us something different and unusual that we hadn’t experienced before. The thermal baths there, although smaller than the Blue Lagoon, are much cheaper and actually offer senior rates. Two pools, one warmer than the other and one sort of large hot tub area. Well worth the money! The cakes in the restaurant there and the coffee were some of the best we’ve had and are reasonably priced. They also have larger meals and soups on offer.

Myvatn is a beautiful lake, and the surroundings have plenty to offer to visit and for hiking. It has a great variety of scenic points and shorter and longer walks. At Skutustadir is a nice information centre that also a small exhibition explaining the origin of the circle of craters over there.

Although it was a long drive from the west of Iceland, it was well worth it. There are so many hidden gems: 2 grottos, a fissure off the beaten path, a nature bath that rivals blue lagoon, and so much more. It's also not crowded due to the location. Well worth the drive!
The location is great, just across from the visitor center and the lake Myvatn. The breakfast is wonderful. The milk is fresh and organic, coming from their own cows. The eggs are from the raised chickens. They have home made ice cream made from the fresh cows milking. I had opportunity to watch the cows’ milking process. We stayed for 3 nights to visit all the attractions nearby. We had the Myvatn nature baths after long days’ volcano hike not far away. The staff and owners are very friendly.
We really enjoyed our stay at the farm guesthouse. Everything was perfectly clean, the beds were comfy, the kitchen is very well equipped and the bathroom is practical and very clean as well. The high note of our stay was of course the breakfast buffet, which was amazing. Homemade products, savory and sweet food, there’s everything you can hope for. We even were able to purchase homemade ice-creams when we arrived, and they were delicious! It’s also perfectly located close to lake Mývatn.
Comfortable, well equipped lodge with 4 guest rooms and communal kitchen, dining, living area. Host helpful and provides good range of food to make your own breakfast. Very nice, well equipped kitchen, including washer / dryer which was very useful, and well used by guests whilst we were there. Good location not far from main road and very close to Lake Myvatn and its attractions. Supermarket not far away in Reykjahlio where there is also very good fish and chip take away.
We really liked the location, close to Lake Myvatn and all the incredible geological attractions in the area. The rooms were rustic in character, like being in cabins, but comfortable on the whole. We liked that there was a small patio area in front, so we could dry our towels and swim suits and leave our muddy boots outside. The restaurant was a lovely space, as was the sitting area in the lobby. The restaurant provides views of the farm (including the cows) and the lake.
The campground hosts were very helpful in providing information. The huts are close to a supermarket/gas station and Myvatn lake seems like a vacation spot for the locals. I really liked having a porch to sit on at the end of the day. We used the kitchen of the hostel down the road. The campground bathrooms and showers were kept clean and were walking distance from the huts.
Location is nice, around what's important in Myvatn.
Room is comfy
People are very respectful, since the building is a bungalow it could have been a way worse experience if people were not.
Overall we had a nice stay but compared to all other hotels we had we think it's a bit too expensive for the service offered.
The setting of this property is the highlight. The views, especially at sunset, were just amazing. It is well situated to exploring the many interesting sights around Lake Myvatn. Our "cabin" was smaller than I had anticipated, as was the bed. Nevertheless, it was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep there.
We were not able to to stay at the hotel since we got stuck at an closed road way before Myvatn, so I cant evaluate the hotel or the rooms. But I want to mention here, that the team was very friendly and opend us the possibility to move our booking to the next date. Very friendly. Thanks!
The hotel is located in an amazing location next to the lake with excellent scenery, the breakfast was very nice, the room was very comfortable staying there for 3 nights, and I definitely wanted to stay a bit extra.
The location is very good, close to the lake. The owner of the property is a very nice person. had a nice and informative talk after dinner. This hotel is more a family house with a pleasant atmosphere.
- We saw the best Northern light during our stay.
- The hotel provides a wake up service when spotting a northern light.
- The dining experience was amazing.
- The hotel is close to Myvatn lake.
Finally a proper hotel in Iceland :) Great lake view, spacious room, comfy bed, good size bathroom with a towel warmer, modern lighting, diverse dinner menu at the restaurant, helpful staff
