It is just very different. The Cottage is old, bit run down but in the middle of a farm, it was different and fun, surrounded by sheep, fire going, everything we really needed. Is what it is - what it isn't is a "vanilla" hotel in the heart of town that is boring

We checkin in late at night for just a 1 night stay. Property was pleasant. Was easy to locate and check in a a breeze even in after hours. We didn’t get to really see to much of the place as we were leaving early in the morning.

The town is worth a look around, particularly if you are interested in Australian history. A walk down Sheridan St is well worthwhile.
Poets Corner Motel is good as an overnighter or perhaps a couple of nights although the current owners have not opened the restaurant.
There are other options, including the Criterion Hotel.
Petrol was cheaper by 10c per litre than most other sites I saw in NSW.

This is a great halfway stop between Sydney and Melbourne.
This is a great halfway stop between Sydney and Melbourne.
It was my second stay and will book nxt week for my trip home.
The staff are extremely helpful and nothing is a bother.
My room was spotless and had all the amenities I needed.
Also it is in a great location, being close to supermarket and restaurants.

Very disappointing.
Very disappointing. Got to town at 3pm on a Friday afternoon and the entire town was shut and nothing to be found except a rather dark pub with awful coffee. Absolutely nothing to do. The one great thing was the restaurant the Little Blue Ducks at Tumut which was exceptional. I would stay there rather than Gundagai.

It was clean and basic.
It was clean and basic. Parking is directly in front of the room and it’s all on the ground floor . I had a room for a stopover driving between Sydney and Melbourne and the return journey. I paid the same price for the night but the 2nd stopover the room only had a kettle ( no microwave like the first) and was situated near the laundry so I could hear the washing machines for several hours that night -

This small town is charming.
This small town is charming. Located among hills with wonderful views from the upper area.interesting architecture well documented on a historic walk guide
Helpful information provided at several key sites about buildings, events or customs eg the gathering round the local group of First Nation peoples Easy walking in the main street, a car to tour the town for grand old houses.
highlights are the restored railway station and the museum which covers a lot of ground
We self catered from an excellent Woolworths, coffee and buns from the main street

Gundagai is an old historic town that we visited for 2 days.
Gundagai is an old historic town that we visited for 2 days. We explored the old gaol which was a self guided tour with audio headphones that you paid and picked up from the information centre. It was very interesting. We also visited the pen museum which showed all the old pens over the years and the gentleman there told us about how he came to get volume 1 of The Age it's the only one in existence it had nearly been thrown out to the tip. Be warned he does like to talk but was worth the visit.
The rooms were exactly how they are pictured, with air-conditioning and ensuites. The pool has a toddler area which was great for myself and my daughter. Surrounded by beautiful hills and mountains and lovely staff! A real family friendly environment. We ended up staying for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Also dog friendly! We left ours at home this time but if we're ever in Gundagai again we know where to go 😊
Staff were super friendly and helpful.
The rooms were exceptionally clean and modern.
The bed was very comfortable and good quality linen.
It would have to be the best shower I have had in accommodating I have booked to date, beating a 5 star hotel I have stayed in!
There was no taxi service in Gundagai during our stay so the owner gave me a lift into town, above and beyond service!
Lovely peaceful location a short walk to the main street pubs and cafes. Very clean with all essential provisions with parking near the door. It was great having a coffee pod machine provided with a coffee pod each for the morning. There appeared to be good soundproofing between the rooms. The grounds were lovely and green and well maintained.
No tea/coffee available in room, no kettle to boil drink water, economically to such an extent… unbelievable, I paid a night in Albury $77, tea/coffee, soap, tooth brush and paste, in room shower and toilet, much much more better than this shit hotel, bring all the inconvenience to guest just for economic reason, once enough indeed!
Location in south Gundagai is a short drive from the main town centre. Old, retro motel with comfortable room, The room had everything needed for a short stay including fridge, microwave, and good TV. Pleased that the windows opened wide to get the fresh air. Wish there had been time to swim in the above ground pool!
This hotel is very dated however the room was very clean and spacious. After reading reviews we were surprised by the lack of noise other than the inconsiderate person staying there who started his motorbike and left it running around 6.45am. Staff were friendly, beds comfortable and we couldn’t fault anything.
We like this hotel / tourist park, and this was the first time we tried the cabins rather than the suites. They were good value and comfortable, and we'd recommend them, but we much prefer the suites. It's only a 5 minute walk to go to the town's cafes and pubs for a meal.
Everything was outstanding. Stunning is the only description. The attention to detail was beyond anything. Will definitely visit again. Loved it and slept as if on a cloud.
What a delight to as Gundagai!
Nice room but smallish. OK for one night though. Clean and confortable. All details (arrival, entry to room) handled electronically. The town of Gundagai was excellent; very historic, worth a visit.
Clean, quiet, comfortable and poetry plaques outside each room, adding a lovely touch of history and a reminder that Gundagai itself is a town steeped in history and poetic influences.
Great country pub accommodation, exceptionally clean, lovely old building that felt loved. Shared bathroom clean and decorated to suit era. would stay here again
Lovely big room and very comfortable.
Great location and appearance from the outside, gardens and grounds kept really nice.
Would highly recommend this hotel.
