Grasmere is full of lovely walks, you don't have to wander far to be in a super stunning surrounding. The walk around the lake is a pretty easy one to follow mainly flat and has a direct path so hard to get lost, but theres definitely opportunities to wander further a field, up into the hills, or over to the caves also from here. The lake is also a great place to paddle board or boat around, it's large enough and not too busy.
We absolutely loved Mathilde's Café at the Heaton Cooper Studio, the food was just delicious and such a pretty shop, great little seating spot outside providing blankets for al fresco dining. Sam Read Bookshop was also worth a look, there are a number of really lovely shops aside from all the main tourist hot spots in Grasmere. We also enjoyed a drink at Tweedies bar which had a lovely atmosphere and be a great place in the summer as it had a lovely beer garden setting to sit outside.

It was beautifully situated ans very tastefully decorated.
It was beautifully situated ans very tastefully decorated. The only downside is there wasn't a shower in our room and I have mobility issues. Also no full length mirror. The bathrooms are rather small, we burnt ourselves on the radiator a few times using the toilet. Obviously that wouldn't be a problem in Summer. I would stay there again but would want a room with a shower which would also give more room to move around.
The food was really good we ate there each night. Bit confused with breakfast. One day we got two slices of bacon the next day one and the poached eggs we're hit and miss, but there was plenty buffet which was excellent.
All in all a lovely place to stay with lovely staff, places to visit all around and breathtaking views.

We walked up Loughrigg Fell loop from Hotel, wonderful walk ..lots of other options of walks too. Ate at The Grasmere Inn ..sister Hotel ..was very bust..we did book ..lovely cosy feel but wa disappointed with the food .it was average ...burger v dry ..service not best ...althoughvery friendly....New waiter though. Wished we had tried somewhere else ...busy not always the best option!
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately one of the rooms was set up as a twin when we arrived when it should have been a double but that was quickly put right by the staff. Delicious cocktails and excellent choice for breakfast - our teenage son loved the waffles with maple syrup, bananas and cream, the full cooked was delicious as was the mushrooms on toast. Very relaxed feel to the hotel which we loved and they were very accommodating with our dog. All round a lovely place to stay right in the heart of Grasmere.
What can you say about Bridge House Hotel…well other than it’s amazing ❤️ from start to finish the stay was perfect. The staff are amazing, the place is like a home from home and The Lake District is a beautiful place to stop, take time out, enjoy and recharge your batteries. Me and my partner were in great need of this break and the hotel did not disappoint. Many thanks to the staff who treated us like friends and look forward to our return. We would highly recommend the place and look forward to booking again.
Great Service and a great location. Great parking in front of hotel. For those who know Grasmere it's a huge benefit especially in the summer. Hotel room was clean and spacious with quality ammenaties and a large comfy bed, I would suggest some black out curtains or blinds to avoid a 5:45am wake up via the natural early morning day light, if you're not an early riser but no problem for me. All the food was delicious and great breakfast to start the day.
The location of this stylish, historical hotel was excellent, providing us perfect opportunity to walk around grasmere and enjoy the local sights and wares. The rooms were upgraded on our arrival and were extremely well presented. Our evening meal was delightful and the atmosphere in the attached bar was jovial and welcoming. Breakfast was served promptly the next morning, and there was a good selection of both continental and hot options.
The lovely large room with views of the surrounding fells from both the front and back windows. The separate sitting room area. The decor - Quality fittings and Retro touches whilst maintaining the character. Great shower - bathrobes supplied. Enjoyed the breakfast with vegetarian options. Just a very short walk into Grasmere centre. Many Thanks to Mike and his Mum.
the food is still excellent despite the many other issues with the hotel. the staff did their best and work extremely hard to make you feel welcome and meet your needs. the location of the hotel is excellent and the car park is a bonus as many of the hotels and guest houses in Grasmere have limited parking.
We had a delightful stay in the Wordsworth hotel in Grasmere. We were very pleased, on arrival, to receive an upgrade to our room, which was comfortable and recently modernised. Very adequate tea and coffee making facilities were provided. All the staff provided friendly and helpful service.
great location overlooking the lake. very convenient and accessible to Grasmere village and plenty of walks straight from the hotel with an excellent spa to help recovery and relax. Food was very good and the staff helpful, attentive and polite.
Excellent location for lovely walks on your front door. Immaculate hotel, fabulous food, amazing breakfast selection and great quality. Our favourite hotel in Grasmere. Lovely chilled music and superb views to relax and unwind.
This was a lovely warm hotel set in the centre of Grasmere Village with a big lounge for rainy days like we had and a perfect pre Christmas stay. The dinner, b&b deal was worth doing. Really helpful staff and a great room.
A very well appointed hotel property located in the beautiful Lake District village of Grasmere with excellent friendly staff and an extremely high quality of food. We very much enjoyed our stay.
