Cangas de Onis, is an interesting town.
Cangas de Onis, is an interesting town. We spent some time people watching at the Roman Bridge, strolling along the river bank and enjoying coffee and beer at some of the cafes and bars. Good choice of restaurants for day time and evening meals, catering for most tastes.
A good base for exploring the Picos de Europa and the wider area.

My review of Cangas de Onis might be slightly based on my endless love for Asturias but apart from that, it's a lovely town to visit, get to know local food, craft beers, cider, treats and see surrounding mountain landscapes. There are several shops to get local products, typical for the region. There are even places with vegetarian food options that are usually difficult to find in rural Spain. For me Cangas de Onis was an intermediate stop on the way to Poncebos to do the Cares Gorge trail. Places that offer vegetarian food: Felix Cafeteria Bar, Casa Luisa, Cafe Picos

Cangas de Onis is a great place to stay if you plan to tour the lakes of Covadonga. There is a tourist bus that operates much like a hop-on-hop-off bus that takes you directly to the lakes and also to the town of Covadonga.

Lively town with lots of bar & restaurant choices - El Molina de la Pedrera was our favourite. NIce walks along the river and good access to the Picos via bus - bus station is close to centre. Very helpful tourist office.
spacious clean room with lovely decor. The hotel itself is very inviting and in a prime location. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I cannot explain how amazing our breakfast was. The best breakfast I’ve had at a hotel ever. So well thought out, time had been taken in setting up the food and some very creative ideas. Honestly was blown away. The member of staff down there was very attentive and efficient ensuring everything was neat, tidy and topped up.
We loved our stay in Cangas de Onis. The apartment was spacious and decorated with good taste. The elevator is direct to the apartment. A perfect location to get to know Cangas and the surrounding area. 30 minutes from the Lagos de Covadonga. A lot of small shops to try cider or cheese cabrales. Near the apartment was a family own business with an elegant old woman, who can give the best recommendations for cider, wine or cabrales cheese.
We had a memorable stay in Cangas. This small hotel is walking distance to city center, local shops and restaurants. The room was comfortable. Clean and fresh linens. The staff made us feel welcome. They were very friendly and accommodating. We hope to be back some day :) thank you for everything!
Walking distance from bus station, room was very clean, and good breakfast! No air conditioning but it was actually not needed. Cangas de Onis is near the mountains and it's much cooler weather here which was a nice break from the heatwave going all throughout Spain.
Attic room very quiet. Bed brill. Shover over the bath but powerful and hot. Very varied breakfast and plenty of it. Hotel In town so plenty of choice for food within walking distance.
We booked early so the price was fantastic.
Host was super responsive and gave lots of suggestions of things to do in the area. He was always available to answer questions.
Cangas de Onís is a great spot to use a s a base to visit Asturias, Cantabria and Pais Vasco.
This hotel was centrally located to the tourist activities. The staff was wonderful, a woman, her mother and her daughter. They were very accommodating to us, even though our Spanish was pretty weak. Very enjoyable site.
The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a good location which felt safe, and is accessible to the towns bars and restaurants. Didn't eat in the hotel. The reception staff generally were helpful and friendly.
What a great little hotel in a prime location. The breakfast is totally amazing with a massive choice and all for 10 Euros. We paid less for a junior suite than a cramped room in some other hotels.
Neat little hotel in the heart of Cangas de Onis. Exceptionally clean and tidy. Friendly and helpful receptionist. Brilliant shower and fresh, nicely presented rooms. Great view over the river.
The staff were excellent at the hotel, they took care of all my needs. Breakfast was included, and offered a great selection. My room was clean and quaint, perfect for my stay.
Small hotel in a quite rural village that was well located for day trips to the beautiful Picos de Europa. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent.
Modern hotel. Very clean. Nice staff. Just a few minutes walk from the Roman bridge and the centre of Cangas de Onis which is a nice town with loads of bars and restaurants.
The breakfast was fantastic and the staff are really helpful. We really enjoyed our time there. If you are planning a visit to Covadonga the hotel is ideally located.
