We didn't explore the area on the Spanish side of the border but did have a great time in Gibraltar.
If you do go to Gibraltar I would recommend doing on the taxi tours up the rock to all the sights and where the Apes are.
Once you have done that you can walk back down into the town and explore that area too.
It saves a lot of walking and the commentary is great to get some history and background of Gibraltar.

I liked the openness , the palm trees, the centenary Draco tree, the Mediterranean vegetation, the lovely sandy beach and lovely sea, the proximity of the market and of the frontier with Gibraltar and the friendliness of the people ready to help and chat.

From the moment we pulled up to the dock and saw how cute these boat houses were we were excited. The views from them were absolutely incredible and stunning. The rooms were spotless clean and just the right size for us.
It was a great walk over into Gibraltar, only 2.2 km (1.4 miles) to walk over the border and into City Center. About one third of that is to the border crossing itself, where you can easily find a taxi or bus of you want.
This property is a fantastic way to see Gibraltar! So easy to walk across the border (5 min) and much less expensive. Sergio met us to let us into the underground parking and take us to the apartment. He also showed us where to find groceries and gave us an excellent restaurant recommendation in La Linea. The apartment was clean and looked as it does in the pictures. I definitely recommend this property!
We were dropped off with Blablacar to this accommodation at night. In the morning we walked to Gibraltar. While you can get a luxorious hotel experience in La Linea with breakfast included for €60 (which we had on our way back), if you want to save €30 for something else in Gibraltar and walk less to Gibraltar, this accommodation is a great option to achieve that...
Reasonably good value hotel in the centre of La Linea. My room was on the back side of the hotel and was quiet with no road noise. The staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful. The room had an ensuite bathroom, good wifi and daily cleaning service. Short walk to town centre and border crossing. I ended up staying an extra night.
Huge apartment so much more space than we expected. The kitchen had everything you needed. The location is great we could walk to gibraltar airport in 10 minutes and your over the border for less than that. La Linea itself is a lovely town too. The host was lovely and gave great tips on where to go. I will 100% be going back.
Great location, central to get to my family in both Spain and gibraltar.
Staff lovely and great communication.
Welcome hamper in the boat, filled with food and essentials to keep us going.
Stunning boat and beautiful views.
Definitely worth the money, would recommend and will 100% be booking again next time I visit family.
Apartment in great location, supermarket and cafe straight across the road.
Ten minute walk to the centre of la linea.
Thirty minute walk to Gibraltar.
Rooftop apartment, fantastic views and sun all day.
Highly recommend.
We stayed here for a quick overnight and layover to see Gibraltar. Easy walk across the border from here and a nice central location in town with nearby parking. Accommodations are basic, but we got a good nights sleep!
The room was nice and location not far from the centre nor from the border with Gibraltar, which is why we came here. Sometimes free coffee and tea at reception, also a microwave to heat some food.
Fantastic location for both Gibraltar and la linea. Great communication from the owner. Good air con, every thing you need for an overnight stay. View of Gibraltar rock! Great value too.
The Hotel is located a very short walk from the Spain-Gibraltar Border - approx. 15 mins.
The hotel room is very comfy and the restaurant has a good selection of meals.
Very good value for money hotel when visiting Gibraltar, it being half the price of staying in Gibraltar, but a manageable 10-15 minute walk to the border.
