With a picturesque setting on the banks of the River Dee, this charming Scottish mansion dates back to 1225 AD, and was once home to the Knights Templar.

I booked last minute on the day, for one night after a change of plans. We spent another night nearby, and if I'd known how nice Maryculter was, I would definitely have stayed both nights.
Fantastic hotel, really friendly staff, great location.

Some of the hotel was very smart and as per the photos on booking.com. Our room was very small in comparison to the photos on the website, and the decor was not of the same standard. I definitely wouldn't call it "delux". However it was pleasant and good value for the £80 we paid (incl breakfast). I'm not sure what the suites on the photos are specified as if our room was delux.
The best thing about Maryculter House was incredible location by the riverside. Our room's window led right to the river so it was a perfect place to rest and enjoy with some relaxation. They also have a medieval old room where you can have some drinks after dinner which is really nice and very cozy. Unfortunately we did not book dinner and it was completely booked that night so we had to go and find a place to have dinner somewhere else. I would recommend to book dinner in advance.
Outstanding hotel! Everything was absolutely wonderful. And not even that expensive, we are amazed. By far the best hotel of our UK roadtrip.
The bathroom was exceptionally beautiful and clean. So modern, even mirror heating! We had a lot of space in comparison to all the other rooms we've been in over the days.
Breakfast also was incredibly good, great quality, especially the salmon.
Everyone was so nice. Sitting near the fireplace with hot chocolate, great atmosphere!
This is a very personal and extremely well run hotel. The staff are all focused on delivering the best service possible. The dinner was excellent. The great hall with it's history and open fire are a wonderful way to relax. Quiet location on the river bank however very close to the road network.
This is fast becoming one of the top hotels in the north east of Scotland under the steer of exceptional GM Peter Walker. A splendid location, a historic house, great staff and grand food and drink. What more could you ask for? Neil McLennan

My husband and I only stayed for 1 night, but I wished we had stayed longer! This hotel felt luxurious yet remained cozy. We really enjoyed the bar and the surrounding town!
We were unable to have dinner at Maryculter House due to late arrival from delayed flight.
The facilities however were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Comfortable beds and good room. Hotel is well situated. Staff are helpful and positive. Plenty of parking space. Good outlook from the public rooms and our room.
