The location is fabulous, ocean front & close to shops & restaurants.
Rooms are comfortable and clean.
A couple of breakfast choices, have to recommend the pancakes, absolutely divine.
They are so lovely here, we were able to leave bags after checking out as we had evening flights, even telling us to keep a set of keys so we could use bathroom when we came back to collect them.
Hadn’t stayed in a guesthouse for years but definitely would again, the personal touch and consideration were excellent!

Very stylish b&b, much better than the average. We were given a free upgrade to an enormous room with a beautiful bathroom. Our host happily put our bikes in his living room and was very welcoming. He gave us great recommendations for a fish & chip restaurant and some microbars. We really enjoyed our stay.

The weather was so bad that I don't think we saw the best of the town.
However the front is very clean and there are a few shops in the town centre plus a cinema and a concert hall.
It is a good place to use as a base to visit other places and the bus service is very good if you don't have a car.

I was disappointed there wasn’t a tourist information office but the library staff were very helpful as was the guest house owner.
I enjoyed visiting the landmarks and just walking along the coast. The Jam Jar cinema was also worth a visit.

Whitley Bay is an up and coming town with some lovely shops.
Whitley Bay is an up and coming town with some lovely shops. It also has easy access to Newcastle and the surrounding area by road and by Metro. In the summer Whitley Bay is busy but in the winter it is much quieter.
I have visited this town many times while visiting my daughter. On this occasion my visit was not a holiday; I was helping my daughter to move house.
Have recently returned from a two day stay at Dune's Hotel. The Hotel is situated in a very convenient position for all the local amenities - shops, restaurants, sea front and the Metro Station - which was brilliant for us as my husband was attending the Rugby League World Cup in Newcastle! Very large room with lovely comfortable, large double bed and a great large screen TV! Everything was very clean. The owner and staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful. We will definitely stay again when next in the area.
Last minute stay. No issues. Easy access and contact from owner. Lush and extremely clean. Everything you could need. Next door to the Nisa shop and clubhouse. Waking up to have breakfast with the sea view from the patio doors was a highlight. Dog friendly too always a bonus.
Bus stops outside to Newcastle or Blyth or quick way of getting into Whitley bay etc. Very quiet and comfy beds. Lovely little walks to the lighthouse recommended.
Can't wait to stay again we loved it didn't want to come home
Stayed 2 nights to enable me to run the Great North Run. Comfortable room in wonderful farm house set in pleasant rural location with super friendly and helpful staff (John & Trish). 3 friendly and well behaved dogs made it feel homely along with the horses and donkey. Plenty of parking space and access to the metro which will take you to the centre of Newcastle and also on a pleasant journey along the coast which is well worth exploring. Very enjoyable stay Thanks David from Bristol.
The location was very good. Close to the sea as well as the shops. Road was nice and quiet. Nice to have an off road parking space. The message sent about the keysafe was easy to understand. The sitting room was nice and bright. The beds were reasonably comfortable and the main bedroom was nice and dark, whereas the back bedroom, although nice and quiet, was not very dark in the morning.

Booked this place back in January 2023
Had to spend rest of afternoon trying to find accommodation for us all
Should not be on this site - disgraceful
Great apartment, very well equiped with all the essentials provided for a comfortable stay.
Excellent location for exploring Whitley Bay, Cullercoats, Tynemouth, Newcastle, Seaton Deleval and a great base for exploring the whole of the North East region.
Staff were amazing nothing to big or small. Very polite. Great value for money, location was ideal as everything you need is on your doorstep. Room was comfortable, spacious & very clean. Would recommend this hotel & would definitely be going back
Unfortunately no one seems to care. It's a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location but the staff are young and inexperienced and it's unloved.
Otherwise is a great hotel with fantastic size rooms in a good location. Could be so much more.
The guesthouse is ideally located on the sea front the room we were in was excellent the shower room was very good.
The breakfast was excellent and made fresh a full English.
Definitely a 5 star stay and will be going back soon
The Metropolitan is a stylish, immaculately clean guesthouse that offers good facilities. Located a short walk from Whitley Bay promenade. Superb breakfast. Paul and Lee are great hosts.
The location and site were good , loved Whitley bay and Tynemouth , caravan large and accommodating , lots of extras ie cleaning products , toiletries . Info on the van etc .
Spotlessly clean, with all the comforts of home, close to a beautiful beach, good eateries, and bars, with the Metro to Newcastle, just 10 minutes walk away.
