The view was great. Could see Kirkjufell from the balcony. Property was very clean. Nice to have some kitchen tableware and minimal cooking items. It was just a minute's walk from a grocery store too, so that was nice.

Nice little B&B after driving around Snaefellesness. The room and beds were comfy. That's all we really needed at the end of the day. Didn't really see any staff in the building, only the people working at the cafe next door, but that was fine for us.

Everything was great, the rooms are clean, the kitchen is clean, the bathroom too. You will receive instructions on where the key is located via message. Recommendation!

Room was okay, a small common kitchen space which was helpful. Bathroom arrangement wasn’t great as there is only one bathroom/ shower/ sink that you share with the owner’s family and occupants of two other rooms. Surrounding area was great though as this house is on a farm and you can see Kirkjufell mountain from the property.

It was an excellent little 2 bedroom apartment with a nice kitchen. Perfect for the two days we were spending there.

Grundarfjordur is a convenient town for exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. It has a good grocery store and two excellent cafes for coffee & treats. A little food truck is open until the end of August. We stayed here 4 nights so we would have time to explore and I'm glad we did because one day was too stormy to see sights and another day wasn't optimal.

Destination port for cruise ships, correspondingly temporarily overcrowded. All pilgrimage to Kirkjufell (known from social media), which is accordingly overcrowded. Deterrent example of Icelandic mass tourism. :-(

Definitely not worth the extra drive time, town is not set up for tourists at all, hotel was 350 euros, which was very high compared to all other night on our trip. We spent the same, but had much better accommodations. Much more to do in the other towns

The town/village itself is really quite sweet.
The town/village itself is really quite sweet. We didn't spend much time there, but we did drive in to use the grocery store and walk around a bit. Kirkjufell Mountain is really quite stunning and one of the most recognizable Icelandic landmarks. You can just sit and look at it all day.
For such a small town, Grundarfjordur is packed with loads of hotels, guesthouses, shops and places to eat. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

This small mountain gets a lot of positive press and yes, it's kind of cool but really not all that great. We were trying to find it the last time we were here (three years ago) and drove right past it. There is a parking lot on the left as you are leaving town and you need to park and get out for the mountain to "look" like it looks in the pictures you see everywhere- with the waterfalls, etc.
There are numerous sights around Iceland that make this one look like a joke. Still...stopping for 5 minutes to get a picture or two will be worth it but you won't look back on this one and remember how awesome it was.

A gorgeous setting next to Kirkjufell Mountain!
A gorgeous setting next to Kirkjufell Mountain! It is a very convenient base for exploring the Snaefellsness peninsula. Dont miss the wonderful restaurant, Bjargarsteinn Mathus, where our meal was truly exceptional.
This was by far the best value accommodation we stayed at in Iceland. Check in was very easy. The kitchen had everything you needed to make yourself a meal. The bathrooms are shared but are some of the best shared bathroom experiences we've had - 2 very powerful, hot showers in separate rooms downstairs and then a separate toilet near the rooms. We also made use of the free laundry facilities! The decor is basic, yes, but clean and comfortable and for the price, especially in Iceland, we really felt like we'd got a good deal
Despite the friendly reception lady and the stunning view from the front of the building, the main problem is the design of the place. Many rooms lead straight off a (dark but well-equipped) communal kitchen area, and so noise travels easily. The description of the place is ambiguous and doesn't really paint an accurate picture that staying here does, in many ways, feel like an expensive youth hostel. Definitely overpriced compared to everywhere else we stayed during two weeks in Iceland.
Skjólsteinar is located on a farm near by Grundarfjourdur where you can meet Icelandic horses. There is parking in front of the house. The pleasant older man has welcomed us and showed us the kitchen will all necessary facilities which we could use. We had a sea view and a mountain view behind the house. Very humble and clean accommodation, definitely meet the expectations. I can recommend, if you are an animal lover and you prefer calm and peaceful place.
amazing stay in the cottage. view was amazing- ocean view & kirkufell. cork floor in cottage modern kitchen & bath. perfect quiet location close to town. best restaurant in Iceland just down road; Bjargarsteinn Mathús. loved our stay in this gorgeous spot. the klakstjorn hike right x the street is a good 4 mile hike to see the gorgeous landscape is a must do! hostess Marguerite was friendly & helpful! saw the northern lights from here!!!
This stay was by far our best in Iceland. The farmhouse is located next to a fjord with views of mountains. The house itself was very clean and quaint. There is a full kitchen for those who want to cook. The beds were comfortable. We were able to meet the many sheep, cows, rabbits, and dog on the farm and see the milking process. I would highly recommend adding this place to your Iceland trip.
Beautiful view of Kirkjufell mountain. Location is nice close to the supermarket. Easy parking. Fully equiped kitchen/living room. Which is nice to make dinner for a change (cause iceland is quite expensive, so is going out for dinner). Room is very nice as it has its own bathroom (even though the shower was very small) many places in iceland has shared bathrooms).
Very good location if your are staying in Grundarfjordur. Rooms are very well equipped with small fridge and small cooking facility. The view from the room was spectacular with mount Kirkjufell and the see directly in front of us. We met one of the owner down stairs a very pleasant guy but otherwise no other staff.
Asthildur and Jonni are a lovely couple. Our stay in Grundarfjörður was one of the highlights of our journey in Iceland. We particularly enjoyed our exchanges and the appartement was beyond our expectations. We highly recommand Bjarg Apartments and the town has everything you may need.
The location is great. Just in front of the Kirjufell and only 2.7 km away from Kirkjufellsfoss. Excellent communication with hosts. They informed us of the times when shops close in this small village. The hosts have great neighbours who gave us some good tips for our Iceland trip.
The units were lovely, clean and had a little kitchen area. The setting is magical, looking at Kirkjufell, Grundarfjordur and the ocean. We sat out on the deck until sunset at 10pm. Highly recommend for a unique and special stay. We wish we had more than one night!
Location was perfect. Very nice apartment, clean and comfortable. Key exchange process was simple.
It was good value for money. View was great and 4 mins walk to nearest grocery store or cafe etc...
Internet worked well as I did work from Iceland in between.
One of the best places we have stayed in Iceland! The bed was very comfy, it had a full kitchen and private bathroom. Everything was very clean! The owners are very kind and are accommodating. Will stay here when we go back!
Great apartment! Nice size and amenities. Very close walking distance to groceries. They had a washer/dryer, but it was in Icelandic so it was difficult to figure out. Everything you could need for a stay.
The lady that runs it was very nice and helpful. Clean room. The kitchen had everything for cooking our own meal. Steep steps to go upstairs, but that seemed to be everywhere in Iceland:)
Good window shades (better than most facilities in Iceland and we had no light). Room has enough space and equipped with coffee, tea and chocolate.
Nice breakfast.
