The only reason we stayed in Chitose was to take the bus up to Lake Shikotsuko. We didn't do any hiking, so a half day was plenty for this part. There aren't many dining options in Chitose if you are on foot (we traveled by train), and very little in the way of other attractions in town. We had to travel to Chitose as we needed to fly out from New Chitose Airport. Nonetheless, we decided to stay here for 2 days to visit Lake Shikotsu & the airport for it offers many attractions. We really enjoyed the lake (very scenic!) and the airport - Royce Choc Factory, Doraemon Waku Waku Skypark etc. We got around Chitose in a rental car and the free shuttle the hotel provided. There were also plenty of souvenirs available at the airport for some last minute shopping.

There are no businesses around the place so you need a car to go grocery shopping or go have a quick bite to eat, which isn't a negative part if all you want is to rest in a comfortable room and be ready for an early flight in the next morning! The place is only a 10min drive to Chitose Airport. Family junior room was a perfect size for my family of four (2&5 y/o).

We had one night stay because we were trapped in bad weather and could not go to our next destination ski resort. Surprisingly we had a comfortable and nice stay here, with Ohuro (hot bath) and near shopping center, also nice restaurants around the hotel. And because the hotel is so near to the train station, we were able to buy the train tickets right after the railway was repaired and left in short time.
