This very pleasant and comfortable Hotel has an excellent location, just a few blocks from the train station, and also just a few blocks from the old town, the main attraction of kuroshiki. Cute place for a day trip, or a one night stay. If you travel off season, know that the boats are only operating during the weekend. No need to spend a lot of time here, you can see most sights in a few hours. Nevertheless, a beautiful city with an impressive historical center!

From the moment we decided to stay at Temari Oitoma Inn and booked our stay there the process was seamless. So, we were off to a good start and our good luck continued. The inn was close to Bikan Historical District, less than a 10” minute walk and there were many good restaurants and shops in the same area. There are many fun and interesting things to see and do in Kurashiki and we could have stayed there another couple of days. We would go back in a heartbeat!

    Kurashiki was a major disappointment, a Disney-fied "...

Kurashiki was a major disappointment, a Disney-fied "historic" town that has sold its soul to tourism - restaurants offering the same dismal fare, trinket shops, soft ice cream outlets galore and mobs of tourists lined up outside same. You can walk it all in about two hours, including your break for ice cream. Put on a straw hat and take a ride along the 200-meter long "canal" to "partake of the history". Yawn. Definitely not worth the time when Japan has so many much better places to visit.

Kurashiki is a small town that immerses you in very authentic local life. With cute shops, an old centre and nice temple park. And if you like, a big mall and supermarket. I needed some relaxing in a smaller city and Kurashiki was just what I needed!

The main attraction here is the Bikan Kurashiki Historical Quarter. The area is nicely restored and preserved, now used as cafes, eateries, museums, and shops (tourists). It is a cozy, safe, and pleasant environment to walk around. IMHO, this is a good hang-out place for a weekend getaway. Travel a bit south to Washuzan for a stunning hilltop view of Seto Ohashi Bridge and the beautiful port town of Kojima.

The machiya has been beautifully renovated and has got all the modern amenities one could expect. Everything is new and very refined. Staff at the nearby gallery is kind and attentive, and provided instructions in English about every aspect of the house and stay. Delicious bread, jam and fruit provided everyday for breakfast. The location is perfect, right at Bikan hostorical quarter and within walking distance from Kurashiki Station, making it the perfect base for exploring the entire Okayama area.

Microwave in room, fridge, spa bath, everything and yes it's a kove hotel but it's still a hotel, free car parking to, best hotel ever..it's huge inside to..value for money, way better than all the business hotels I've done for more money!! And it's perfect for couples, I'm solo and it's fine to come here solo!

I liked that the staff was upfront about when we could have the afternoon tea. We decided to have it right after check-in as we were going somewhere further from the hotel the next day and we don't want to return to do so. Being right beside the historical quarter, it was convenient for us to visit too. Located about 10 minutes walk from the train station, one might want to consider taking a taxi if you don't want to carry your luggage to the hotel

Says check in has to be by 9pm but luckily the bar is open til much later so could check in after this. Friendly staff in bar. Extremely large room for the price in Japan. Had a washing machine in the room so could wash clothes. Very high standard of interior decor. If a travelling couple would be a really nice stay. Good food options in the town and covered shopping street. Big supermarket near the train station.

This is a nice hotel in the historical district. The Deluxe Twin Room B was a step up from a businessman hotel -- a little larger but only a rack for a closet and slightly more room for two large suitcases and two totes. The coffee and tea service is of good quality. The view from the room in Dec is a bare-tree winter courtyard, very seasonal. The souvenir shop is wonderful as is the food gift shop.
