Gia Lai as a whole is a beautiful province.
Gia Lai as a whole is a beautiful province. Pleiku doesn't have as much to see as other major cities in Vietnam but there are some interesting place such as the Gia Lai museum and the big lake which you can drive to from the city. There are also a few excellent pagodas that are accessible from Pleiku that are much worth visiting. One is Chua Buu Minh. The big highlight for me was about 30 min north of Pleiku visiting the volcano of Dang Ya and the surrounding area. You can hike to the top but go only when it is not raining. Absolutely stunning!

Pleiku was an interesting and delightful place that will make the highlight reel. Reading about the area spoke of restricted areas, stringent controls, and secret police. While they may have been there our experience was very different. We encountered numerous people so excited to see us, including a young boy taking a sneaky photo and editing it before his mum showed us the finished product. We had many requests for photos and to practice English.

Came to Pleiku because my father was stationed at the airbase during the Vietnam war. Was fortunate to find an English speaking guide for a half day tour other than that no one spoke English. Felt uncomfortable there , yes we are tourists but me and my partner were just stared at everywhere we went and not in a friendly way . Really hard to communicate with the locals hardly anyone speaks english we managed to find a supermarket where we got some food to eat in our room as we knew what we were getting 🙈 make it a stop over location !!

Sleepy city.Boring city. Not much to do here and not many restaurants worth their while. Tons of street food and a dirty market,lots of clothing shops with decent quality price rapport,and a few natural beauties.(Waterfall,lake,park...) Nice place to spend one or 2 days in to relax before heading in or out of Cambodia. Tons of police everywhere which makes it very safe.ChristianCanada
