The NH Collection was well located in La Floresta, a safe neighbourhood you can walk around in. It’s over the road from the Swiss Hotel, where you can buy tickets for the HOHO tour bus, a 10-15 minute walk away. Our 12th floor room was large with a great view down to the centro storico. On reflection though, a room on a lower level would have been better, to help as we acclimatised to the elevation. The food was really good- much better than the Hilton Colon and on a par with the Marriott. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was keenly priced. Overall it was a good choice.

A really exquisitely restored old Quito house - far more beautiful than the pictures do justice - right in the heart of the Old City, with huge rooms, comfy beds, and wonderful, super friendly and helpful hosts. Felt safe at all times. The owners made restaurant recommendations at our behest and both were superb. Bed was very comfortable and enormous. They even have a wine room with decent bottles sold with almost no mark up. Why would anyone choose to stay anywhere else in Quito!

The house interior decoration and architecture was amazing. We really enjoyed the breakfast, cooked at spot. All staff were very attentive and helpful, they help organising airport transfers. Also we were allowed some changes in the room type, so my mother could stay in the ground floor to avoid the stairs, thank you.

Historic center was vibrant and scenic. Enjoyed visiting the Basilica as well as the magnificent Church of the Franciscans and the colorful architecture and plazas. Enjoyed the chocolate tasting at Mundo, delicious traditional Andean cuisine at Runa Tulpa Andina and excellent continental cuisine at La Vid in the Archbishop's Palace. There was 360 degree view of city from the Statue of the Virgin Panecillo at top of Quito. A major highlight was the tour of the Capilla del Hombre and the home of the artist, Oswaldo Guayasamin.

Due to current political issues in Ecuador, we were a little apprehensive about making the trip. However, only minutes after we landed in Quito we fell in love. The airport is amazingly clean and has all the amenities you would want. Quito, the La Carolina area, was extremely clean and very secure. The shopping was fantastic and there were tons of restaurants to choose from. All that said, we were most surprised by how reasonably priced everything was.
Also, a lot of bars do not take credit cards. Ecuador uses the American dollar, so have some on hand so you don't have an awkward experience.
We would definitely make the trip again.

We were just there one night to experience the city having spent a few nights in the mountains near Pifo.
Loved the crazy city - beautiful architecture. Lots of security/police presence which made it feel safe. My partner was unwell so I explored the city solo - I was approached by a policeman who gave me a map and ensured I was safe/aware of where to walk etc.
It is easy to travel by foot. I would have liked longer but feel 2-3 nights would have been plenty.

We stayed 2 nights in Quito.
We stayed 2 nights in Quito. We had one full day in Quito, which was not enough. We happened to be there during Carnivale. We took a cab to the Basilica and then walked to Independance square to observe the celebration. Later we had a great meal in the nearby hall.

I was robbed on the third day I was in Quito.
I was robbed on the third day I was in Quito. A pickpocket stole my wallet and I lost USD 200. The police didn't seem to care and most couldn't speak English. Every single day I was harassed by beggars, some of whom were very aggressive. I didn't feel safe in Quito and became paranoid. I couldn't wait to leave. I would NEVER return to Ecuador and probably not any other country in South America. There is a nationwide state of emergency now, and it's very dangerous. I advise my fellow Americans to avoid Ecuador like the plague unless you go straight to the Galapagos Islands. Ecuador is by far the worst country I've ever been to and I've traveled all over the world.

It's an old city, with lots of history and historical buildings. Many museums, often free. The surrounding mountains are beautiful and the climate is excellent.
Most of the people I met were friendly and willing to help a confused stranger. There are some beggars, and some unsavory areas, as with any sizable city.
I highly recommend visiting Wikiri Sapoparque if you're an animal lover. It's a great and unique experience.
The property & rooms were very lovely, decorated beautifully, and the bed was so comfortable. Mario & Blanca were so attentive & helpful. The breakfast was so delicious with the fresh fruit, juice, eggs, coffee or tea, granola and breads. It was conveniently located in the heart of Quito historic old town. Mario was always able to assist us with reserving a taxi when we needed to go somewhere. Our entire stay was incredible. As a side note, the woodwork inside the house, the staircase, the decor through out was beautiful.
This bed and breakfast is located in the historic old town of Quito, 5 minutes walk to the Grand Plaza, the Presidential Palace, etc. The room we had was on the top floor; it was spacious and private. There are two sitting areas with gorgeous views of the city. Breakfast includes eggs as well as fresh fruit, cheese, and a selection of cereals and yogurt. The staff was exceptional, especially Enrique. They helped us with getting taxis, directing us to sights and restaurants and were just all-around helpful and friendly.
A basic but fantastic hostel. Clean and comfortable. staff great and plan told of activities to entertain in the evenings as area isn’t safe at night. food is superb and cheap. they help organise tours and give great advice on your Ecuador trip. hot shower and fast wifi. and the rooftop terrace has just been refurbished and is an awesome place to chill out with stunning views over Quito.
The staff was so kind and accommodating and helpful for my family of four. The location was great — close to the old town and not far to Mariscal where the market was, so we could tour museums and churches, have some great meals nearby and at the hotel, and also shop for gifts. The staff went over the top to make sure we had a great stay, and we really appreciated it!
We stayed two nights longer than planned because we liked the place so much. Marisol was very helpful and friendly, the flat has everything we needed, the kitchen is fully equipped, and there is even a washing machine. The trolleybus stops right in front of the building, the old town is a 5minute walk away. Just perfect to start our travels in Ecuador!
Terras was nice. Staff is very helpfull. It was quiet and green in a busy part of Quito. It was really good to relax after spending a day in busy Quito The coffee and fresh juice with the breakfast was excellent. Excellent fast Wifi compared to some previous stays in Ecuador. The top floor had a beautifull garden, there even were humming birds.
The staff here were wonderful Everyone was helpful and friendly. The breakfast on the terrace was delicious and varied daily. The view of Quito from the terrace and our room was excellent. Facilities were very clean and also safe. Location in the Old Town was great. We used the airport shuttle and that was very convenient.
Absolutely everything. It's nice and cozy, rooms are spacious and very nicely designed. Big bathroom with a very hot shower. Close to the Old Town, but next to pretty calm street. Owners are amazing and very helpful with everything. The breakfast is big and tasty. One of the best places to stay in Ecuador.

Ecuador is a poor country. Making black money won't help Ecuadorian society!
A calm oasis to escape the madness of Quito. The hotel is convenient for exploring Old Town and all its sites. Bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent-fresh fruit, eggs and a traditional Ecuadorean dish every day. Staff were great too. I would thoroughly recommend.
Beautiful suite, very clean. Very worthwhile to upgrade to a suite-it's huge! The hotel itself is gorgeous and very impressive. It's also situated in the perfect area downtown, close to everything. The staff is very friendly. Taxis only cost a few dollars to get to Old Town.
Best hotel we had in Quito for the best price. The room was huge, very clean with everything we needed. The gym is great with a lot of options. The breakfast was great. They even have a free parking garage. The wifi internet was very fast. If you ask me it's 5 stars hotel.
Hotel Cayman staff were very friendly and helpful. They were a delightful welcome at the start of my trip in Ecuador. They prepared a lovely breakfast and the room was very comfortable, clean and well furnished. The wifi was also very good.
Very nice small hotel in excellent, safe location. Perfectly clean. Gloria and Hernan are super hosts; Hernan gave us free walking tour - as a guide - throughout most important and beautiful churches, plazas and palaces of Quito’s Old Town.
We stayed here at the beginning and end of our trip and it was a perfect bookend to an incredible trip to Ecuador! The hotel was so comfortable and easy to return to with guaranteed great food, phenomenal staff, and a prime location!
The staff is friendly and very helpful. The terrace view is amazing, I spent great time there. Room was little bit cold, breakfast was yummy, and definitely recommend this hotel for your Ecuador trip.
Lovely small hotel close to everything in Quito’s old town. The rooms are comfortable and quiet, the rooftop bar has a great view of the city and the breakfast is exceptional
