I really couldn't fault this hotel. The staff were lovely, the location was great and the beds were super comfy. The shower was hot and powerful. We didn't use the little gym downstairs but we were able to refill our water bottle from inside. Breakfast was very nice - loved the Caju bowl in particular. The only small criticism was our toilet door didn't stay shut - it used to swing open

Castanheiro Boutique Hotel ligger i Funchal, 500 meter fra Marina do Funchal, og tilbyr et utendørsbasseng og spasenter. We loved everything about this hotel! From the arrival where we were greeted with champagne to the wonderful food and bars offered within the hotel to the OUTSTANDING spa staff, we could not have had a better trip. We visited during a 3 day storm so we had plenty of time to use all of the hotel amenities and could not recommend them more. The rooms were spacious, had balconies (for those rare, clear moments) and had modern, clean bathrooms with luxurious showers. While I did not eat at the restaurant for dinner, 6 of our other friends did and absolutely raved about the food. The quality and value, coupled with excellent staff made for an amazing trip. Only a 5-minute walk from so many things to do in Old town and a 10-minute cab ride to the more commercialized, shopping area of town. We would only stay at the Castanheiro hotel again if we return.

Hagen var utrolig fin og stor. Over all forventning. Rommene store, utmerket service og hyggelig betjening. Nydelig frokost og utmerket kjøkken. Poolen var fin. Alt var renslig og ordentlig. Et av de fineste stedene jeg har vært. Ønsker å dra tilbake. Anbefales.

This is a great-value hotel, simple and a little old and worn (call is "classic"!), but comfortable; the location is perfect; the staff was very friendly and helpful (Ronnie was the best!); it was very cheap, the breakfast was decent with a beautiful view. Overall, we got more than we expected and more than we paid for. Thank you!

The rooms are huge, most have a balcony overlooking the incredible tropical gardens or the bar area - but there is never any noise. Very peaceful. The staff are just fantastic - so friendly and genuinely nice. Breakkfast is great - both cooked and buffet
