The hosts are kind and sweet, the facilities are cosy, and the space is soothing and aesthetic. The building apparently is 100 years old, so it has a very traditional Japanese character which is exactly what you want from a trip here. The hosts also volunteered to drive me to the train station so I would be on time for the next leg of my journey. I stayed here only overnight, but it's the sort of place that makes you wish you had stayed for longer.

We loved the chill room upstairs where there's a huge collection of manga, English DVDs, massage chair. The roof terrace is cute with a view of Kumamoto castle all tiny and lit up. The host is super kind! Very very clean as well, and cute Ghibli music trinkles at the front entrance.

Rie is such an amazing host who gave us a lot of great advice for exploring the area. Mamihara and surroundings have a lot to offer, especially in terms of beautiful nature spots, forest and shinto shrines! We felt very much at home here. Please make sure to stay in this unique guesthouse, we will come back!

Ukishimakan Bettei Guest House - Vacation STAY 14350 ligger i Shimo-rokka, 10 km från Kumamoto slott, 11 km från Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei och 13 km från Egao Kenko Kumamoto-stadion. What a delight to stay at this beautiful Japanese style house with an abundance of amazing paintings by the owner. Spacious, cozy and functional rooms as well as the most kind and welcoming host. We would recommend this place to anybody who wants to have a great Japanese experience that really stands out. We would love to come back some time.

Although the house has a history of 150 years old, there were technology such as sound sustem, projector and even Karaoke over the BBQ dinner. Definitely recommended to have a stay

The house is quite clean and very beautiful. We enjoy our stay and hope to visit next time. There’s any cooking equipment you need.
