We stayed here for one night before our jungle trek. We booked our Medan airport to Bukit Lawang transport and the jungle trek with them. From the time of booking till we left the place; Brian and his team were extremely helpful. Sarah cooked delicious dinner for the night. The place is value for money and they even provide good breakfast. Our tour guide for the forest trek was Rosyid & his assistant Theo. They were absolutely amazing and the best throughout. I could complete my trek on the last day because of their motivation throughout. We can't recommend them enough. The food that they served during trek was also really good. Rosyid and Theo went out of their way to help a random guy during the trek who was unwell and made sure to give him the medicines and took extremely good care of him till he got better and help arrived. It didn't matter to him if the guy was part of our group or no and that shows how professional and caring they are. Magic tricks by Rosyid at the campsite was very entertaining. There was also Manto who cooked extremely delicious dinner and breakfast for us and helped with the river tubing. Would definitely recommend staying at Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey Guesthouse in Bukit Lawang.

The Place was amazing. Great value for money. The room has a sea view, it is very quiet, comfortable, clean and you have a fridge, desk and drinking water in the room. Wifi works well and I could work and take online meetings with no problem. The food prepared at the restaurant is some of the best I have eaten in Indonesia. Because of Ramadan food options needed to be arranged in advance but the host cooked for us during lunch also because on the island there would have been very limited options otherwise. The best thing is the reef right in front of the property that is basically your backyard. Beautiful snorkeling you can stay in the water for hours. They arranged for us a pick up and drop off at the ferry port and also a scooter rental at a reasonable price.

Set in Tuk Tuk in the Sumatra region, Juma cottages features a garden. There is an on-site restaurant and free private parking. All units in the guest house are fitted with a kettle. Lake access and beautiful view from the garden as well as the room - I think The most beautiful out of all The accomodation I’ve seen while walking around Tuk Tuk Village. New and very clean apartaments. Great banana pancaces for breakfast:) Very warm and helpful owners- helped organize a guide and transport around The lake as well as futher trip.

Featuring garden views, Bua Guest House offers accommodation with a garden and a terrace, around 9.3 km from Medan Grand Mosque. Lovely place, perfect for travellers stopping by on the way to e.g. Bukit Lawang or Lake Toba (you can arrange transport here which makes it all very easy). Lovely owners and staff. I stayed here twice on my trip and met interesting and friendly fellow travellers both times - it's that kind of place. Rooms are simple but pleasant, clean and comfortable, with air conditioning. The honesty fridge with drinks, snacks and, most importantly, natural insect repellent, is a great idea. The location is not far from the city centre (with a vehicle) but has more of a rural village feel, which is very pleasant. It offers outstanding value for money and I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit to Medan.

Situated in Berastagi, 25 km from Mount Sinabung, Kaesa Homestay features accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a terrace. I liked everything about this place, the room was great, comfortable bed, hot shower and great breakfast with a sweet surprise everyday - but what I liked the most is Kaesa and his lovely family, they made me feel at home, helped me with everything I needed and made my trip started in best way possible.

Situated in Bukit Lawang, Sumatra Cheeky Monkeys features accommodation with seating area. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. The owner was so kind. Let me stay in a slightly more expensive room inside without paying the difference and got a ride back to the guesthouse from the city center at night. I wasn’t there for long but definitely felt it was a good deal for the price. It is pretty far from the center of butik lawang. You can walk it in 20min or get a tuktuk for 30rp. The walk is nice. You get to see another side to the area.

Smiley and his wife are exceptional host. The food is amazing. They both are super helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to things to do in the area, where to visit next and how to actually make it there.

Fun Family Guest House n Jungle Tour is offering accommodation in Bukit Lawang. Featuring a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. If you want to take a tour in the jungle this is the company to go with. The room is value for money and Putra with his family will help you with everything you need + more. I got sick before the trek and got a lot of support from the staff and the trek was easy to reschedule. The tour was the best jungle experience I've had this far, will be back for sure.
