This beautiful medieval house has kept all its character, but has been sympathetically renovated, and finished with high quality furnishings, linen and equipment. It is in the centre of old Bergerac, with views of the Dordogne from the top floor, and within metres of several excellent restaurants. It is a true townhouse, with one room on each of four floors, and a fairly steep and narrow staircase between the floors. This property has featured on Channel 5 in their Holiday Homes in the Sun programme.
We are a retired English couple, we have been living in France for 14 years now. We fell in love with this property when looking for a renovation project, and have been renting it out since 2017. We live about half an hour’s drive away, but are always available by email or phone to help with any problems or queries. We enjoy golf and tennis, and gardening, and eating out! Graham also does painting and drawing, you will see some of his pictures at the house.
Although in the centre of old Bergerac, the area is quiet at night, no traffic noise. 3 of the town’s top restaurants are within 50 metres of the door, and there is a Carrefour City supermarket (open every day) within 5 minutes walk. The river Dordogne is 2 mins walk away, with cycle routes, footpaths, and areas for picnicking and fishing, as well as boat trips. Bergerac station is 15 minutes walk away, and also on the local bus route. Trains go to Bordeaux, St Emilion and Sarlat The airport is a 15 minute taxi ride away. Bergerac is a charming town, with markets twice a week, and many events and music concerts during the summer.
