Situated 1.5 km from Takayama Station, Iroriyado Hidaya is a recently renovated 4-star accommodation in Takayama, boasting a garden, a shared lounge and private parking. Our family had unforgettable and wonderful moments at this Ryokan. Comfortable rooms, good Japanese bath facilities and a very special breakfast. It was the most attentive and friendly staff of our entire stay in Japan. Here we understood what Omotenashi is. Thanks a lot Iroriyado Hidaya.

Offering a shared lounge and quiet street view, Toraya is set in Gero, 48 km from Takayama Station and 49 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village. EVERYTHING. The dream come true in a ryokan (and affordable). I truly love the private onsen. It was bliss. The room, the yukatas, the ambience, the fact that look like is brand new construction but in a traditional aesthetic. A dream.

Offering a garden and garden view, Nagataki is located in Nakatsugawa, 13 km from Ōi and 34 km from Japan Taisho Village. The property is allergy-free and is situated 12 km from Enakyo Wonderland. This accommodation is 400 years old and managed by the 15th generation now. The history is very special. Even the formal emperor staid at this accommodation. You can really experience the authentic Japanese life. Food was delicious, the best food we had in Japan untill now. We hear that the chef build his cooking skills at a Michelin star restaurant and that is what you see and taste at the food. When we arrived we were (as both having back problems) worried about the traditions futon beds, but this was no problem at all! Nice to do from here is the Nakasendo walk from Magome to Tsumago. The hotel helped us with a useful map and arrange a transfer for us to the starting point.

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Shiroyamakan offers accommodation in Shirakawa, 1.4 km from Shirakawago. Free private parking is available on site. The entire property is non-smoking. Everything was beyond perfect. The Matsuko family are the most amazing hosts and provided an experience that will long live in our memories. The fact that it had snowed the night before added to the magic of this place. Takuya-san the father was a very jovial man with an incredible philosophy on life which he shared on our personal and entertaining tour of the village in his van. He then prepared the most amazing food we had on our Japan trip. I encourage anyone thinking of travelling to Shirakawa-go to stay here and support this incredible family.

Situated in a tranquil area in Gifu Region, a 52-minute drive away from JR Takayama Station, Mozumo boasts a hot-spring bath and rooms decorated with modern Japanese interior. Incredible service, food, location, ambience - everything was perfect and an absolute highlight of our 3 week Japan trip.

Founded in 1860, Juhachiro is located along Nagara River and boasts indoor and outdoor natural hot spring baths. The property is a 15-minute bus ride from Gifu Train Station. The onsen included in our room was amazing!!!

Located just a 1-minute walk from popular Miyagawa Morning Market in the heart of Takayama, Sumiyoshi Ryokan offers homely Japanese-style accommodation in the historic townhouse building. It was absolutely like a dream! It is the closest you can get to staying with a local family. The hosts were incredible and lovely and took care of us and it honestly felt like coming home to visit family. It was in a beautiful location and every room of the property was spectacular, clean and incredible to be in. Massive thank you to our hosts for the incredible stay, we loved it.
