Situated in Koyasan in the Wakayama region, 宿坊 光明院 features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to a hot tub. Everyone there was wonderful, willing to help even with the language barrier. The dinner and breakfast were delicious (if you stay more than one night, note that you'll eat the same dinner and breakfast) The room and all the temple was super clean and calm. It was a great place to stay! I really love the ceremonies that I could witness, meditation in the evening, morning ceremony and goma ceremony (fire ceremony). The one thing I was surprised by is that the showers are "Onsen Showers" so it's in a commun room, with little stools where you can clean yourself before entering the bath. Not a negative point, just something I wasn't expecting. Thanks to all the staff there for a wonderful stay!

清浄心院 is situated in Koyasan, 39 km from Kishi Station, 45 km from Matsushita Park, and 45 km from Itakiso Shrine. It is set 39 km from Tama Museum and features full-day security. I have stayed in quite a few places in Japan but this is my favorite for so many reasons: - You are staying in a temple monastery and you can see and feel that everywhere. You are staying in a piece of history. - the graveyard is one minute walking away (I went there three times in different times of the day) - you get a free tour of temple, can attend the morning prayer and a fire ceremony - the staff was super kind and some spoke very good English - I could check in early - the food is something very different than usual - there is an Onsen instead of a traditional shower room (bathing hours are limited see below) - the wifi is good
