One of the major seaports connecting France and England, Saint Malo is Brittany’s most visited town and a tourist destination in its own right.
The Old Town overlooks the English Channel and is completely surrounded by restored walls. You get a great view of them if you arrive on the ferries from England to St Malo (either direct or by the Channel Islands). Once an island, this citadel now shelters behind it the hundreds of sailing boats bobbing in the modern harbor.
Within the Old Town are bars and restaurants serving oysters from nearby Cancale, and many of the St Malo hotels. The most notable sights are the cathedral with its colorful, stained-glass window, and the castle - site of the town's museum.
The beaches are sandy, though the water is somewhat bracing. A causeway leads to Grand Bé, a rocky island housing the tomb of Chateaubriand, its most famous son. To the south is the 14th-century Solidor Tower, a remarkable collection of artifacts from voyages around Cape Horn. Further inland is Labyrinthe du Corsaire, a huge maze that will keep kids busy for hours.
In the Rance River, connecting the sea to Dinan, is the world’s first tidal power station. The road over it leads to Dinard Airport, the closest to Saint-Malo.
Saint Malo is a very interesting and beautiful town.
Saint Malo is a very interesting and beautiful town. It has something for everyone, whether couples or families. Shopping, walking playing at the beach or just a stroll along the ramparts.we were there a week and still could have stayed longer. Public transport is at your door to explore surrounding areas.

Outstanding medieval walled city rich in centuries of history. Inside the walled city is a beautiful labyrinth of cobbled lanes and alleys, filled with cafes, shops, restaurants and hotels. A truely unique experience that visitors should invest time to discover all there is to see. The changing tides and the effect on the local coast is remarkable to see. Best to visit at low tide.

Lovely place to visit for a long weekend ; great beaches and restaurants. We ate at Le Cale in Solidor ; great seafood but quite pricey and in a great location overlooking the bay. The Creperie also great for snacks, tapas and drinks. Great atmosphere and great views and great value for money.
Intra muros really interesting and great to walk around walls. Enjoyed walking around the peninsula between Solidor and St Malo . A great walk parc Solidor with fab views and a great private beach at low tide.
We were just out of season so weren't able to to use the sea bus across to Dinard as planned.
The staff, the location, the facilities.
We loved this hotel, the staff provided the most amazing recommendations of what to do and where to eat that ended up being fabulous! They also made sure we knew the tide times (which are very important to plan your day) every morning which was so helpful.
The location is perfect, right in intra muros and easy to access from the public parkings just outside (4 minute walk)
The hotel was very clean, the room was nice and the bathroom was great!
The hotel is very attractive and on a busy resaurant square in this unique location. Check-in was trouble free, and the room was nice, and clean, though not spectacular in any way. Being inside the walled city is very intriging as well as being surrounded on three sides by the islands and shores of Saint Malo with its exciting nature, huge tides, views and history.
At 15 Euros for coffee ,cereal and pastries I would go out for breakfast .Parking prices close by are outrageous…but free overnight parking just off ferry port entry road.Great bar which is originally Old Sailing Club Bar.Did not eat in hotel but Chateaubriand next door does great steaks.
Great location at entry to walled city.
Excellent location, right on the seafront promenade, beautiful views of the beach, the bay, and the walled city at a distance. Attractive, well-appointed room; complimentary coffee/tea pot in the room. Nice hotel bar. Friendly, attentive staff. Very convenient parking (paid). Overall, a very enjoyable stay.
Good breakfast, easy free parking right outside the hotel and kind staff.
Saint-Malo old town/Intermural and its beaches 10 minutes drive The hotel’s location isn’t charming but conveniently situated with a super market across the road and shopping within a couple minutes drive.
Large, modern hotel on a square in the historic old town, making it an excellent base for exploring on foot. Clean, reasonably sized room with all usual facilities. Helpful staff. Underground private car park with a handful of above ground spaces. Nice bar and outdoor terrace.
Perfect location - on the one hand, very close to the center of Saint-Malo (25 minutes calm walk), on the other hand, a bit away from noisy crowds, which is good. Right in front of sea shore. Direct access to perfect beach. There is very good SPA inside the hotel.
Fantastic location within the walls. Rooms were small but fine for a one or two night stay. We booked parking at the hotel but found we didn't need it because there was plenty of space in carparks outside the walls 5 mins away on foot which was cheaper.
The location is wonderful! Steps away from the beach and a very quick walk to the walled city. The room was perfect for my family, comfortable beds and spacious. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. The breakfast was also really great.
Everything was amazing. It's an old hotel but everything worked and it was exactly like the pictures showed. The staff was extremely kind and when faced with an issue they were accomodating and understanding.
Very good location, nice hotel, welcoming and friendly staff. Really useful to have a parking space reserved. The staff were extremely helpful with advice re restaurants, getting the bus to the old town etc.
The hosts make the experience in the hotel wonderful, they will give you a full scope of the best spots in the surroundings, making our stay super smooth while getting the cosy feeling of being welcome.
Lovely room, very clean and the staff were all excellent. The hotel is in a very good position for access to both the beach and the "walled city", and there were some good facilities.
Amazing view of the sea, great spot to view the intense waves at high tide. Hotel was clean, easy to walk to the old city of St. Malo. Street parking was free.
The hotel is conveniently located inside walled city. There are loads of restaurants, shops, cafes nearby. It's close to the sea. The staff are super nice.
