We stayed in Thornton Le Dale a couple of miles outside. This location is ideal in that it is within easy reach of most local attractions and also the coast. Plenty of pubs, cafes and independent shops.

Nice little market town with plenty of places to eat in the evenings, even in the winter. It is a good centre for visiting other places nearby and it has the main attraction of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Clean tidy and relaxing.
Clean tidy and relaxing. The birds at the pond were lovely to see. Even saw a kingfisher. Hot tub was very nice and they even turned up the temperature to meet our preference. The hot tub was checked and attended to promptly ever day of our stay. I know Pickering very well as my daughters lives there. We used the site as a place to relax and be with my family after loosing my brother few weeks before. My husband had also retired that weekend so we wanted to be close to our family. All our needs were met but could have done with few more cooking dishes and trays as we did not want to go out to eat. Would recommend the site to others.

Beautiful town. The NYR is a real tourist attraction.
Beautiful town. The NYR is a real tourist attraction. The stops are interesting and mostly independent! Parking is plentiful! Pickering is a fabulous base to explore the moors! Just 20 minutes to Whitby, 20 miles to York. Plenty of places to eat, lovely cafes and pubs! Don’t forget to visit the Castle. Scarborough is a 30 minute drive. People in the town are very friendly and the shops are very welcoming of dogs. Pickering is a real gem of a town! Flamingo Land theme park is about 10 mins from Pickering.

The purpose of our visit was to visit the Bangers and Cash Auction House, and to visit there memorable museum in Thornton le Dale. Pickering was a nice place. We went out of season so it was quiet and only went for two days. Ate at a Indian restaurant which was recommended to us.
Absolutely perfect little escape. Small, friendly, delicious breakfast, and a wonderfully comfortable room with a lovely view over the garden. The hosts were fabulous and made us feel welcome and very much at home, they honestly could not do enough for us! Nutty was the perfect pooch and it was an honour to meet her and her family. The house is far enough from Pickering to make you feel as though you were in the middle of nowhere but close enough to walk to in under 20 minutes, perfect for getting to the NYMR and Whitby.
Everything was excellent, Parking was great with ample room, tucked away off the small road behind the property. Location is fantastic a short walk and your in the centre of Pickering. The house and garden were beautiful very clean and welcoming. Breakfast was great plenty of choice a good size and was delicious. Our Hosts were amazing nothing was too much trouble and they were very helpful . The whole experience was awesome and would highly recommend 17 Burgate.
It's a really cosy, warm cottage with everything you could possibly need - including the comfiest beds ever. Pickering is great. It's a pretty little town with cute shops, a castle, and a steam train. It's perfect for mooching around, and as a base to explore the glorious North York Moors and the coast around Whitby and Scarborough.
The host is absolutely lovely, and puts his heart and soul (and back!) into everything. (Thanks, Matt!).
The location and parking were excellent - the NYMR Pickering Station is just 5 minutes walk away. The breakfast was served in the conservatory and was virtuously faithful to the positive reviews (enormous tea pots a hit). The rooms were spacious and clean - they'd actually been redecorated just weeks before our stay. Staff all friendly and knowledgeable. An experience at a good price. It's just how a small hotel should be run.
The location was within a short walk to the town and the log burner was an added bonus for us kept us very warm and cozy. Lots to do close by from Scarborough to whitby and we even went to the famous Bangers and cash shop in Pickering the cottage was very clean and tidy and there was plenty utensils and cooking equipment and much more for our needs. I strongly recommend this little cottage as it was peaceful and quiet.
We loved being able to use the fireplace. We were in The Tack Room and it's a very well laid out cottage. It's comfortable, homely and cosy; perfect for a couple to stay in.
It's walking distance to everything in Pickering and it's a relatively short drive to York, Whitby and other coastal towns. You can also get to Dalby Forest and other lovely places pretty easily for a nice walk which we liked.
the breakfast was ok although on one of them the sausage was on the turn, i was disappointed as i thought we were in walking distance to pickering, but it was 10 miles away and being that the kitchen was not open for evening meals, and the nearest restaurants were fully booked, it spoilt the break
Very welcoming, and bike friendly. Accommodated our need to clean our muddy cycles. Hotel near some quiet cycle routes to avoid the main road to Pickering. Breakfast was good and included fresh fruit and a cooked breakfast which could be adapted to our needs (one dairy free diet).
Welcome hamper was lovely, lots of treats and a bottle of wine. Fresh milk in the fridge on arrival. Smart T.V and great WiFi.
Parking was good. Lots of cleaning products. Tea and coffee supplied. Location was great for the Steam train and Pickering village. Gill is a superstar.
Location excellent if you want Pickering / NY Moors.
Lovely helpful friendly staff. Evening meal was excellent - choice of bar (my choice) or the restaurant.
Breakfast was excellent.
Chose my room as was looking for a bath - did not disappoint,
Great choice options on breakfast menu which needs to be pre ordered, the breakfast itself was exceptional. The hotel is in a quiet location but only few mins walk from the train station & centre of Pickering.
Location in Pickering was great. Nicely maintained property; decently sized rooms and bathrooms. Food was great and really reasonably priced. Owners were helpful and flexible.
