Our host Gabriella was very friendly and considerate. She took a lot of trouble to make us comfortable including driving down to meet our car by the motorway exit and leading us up the easier of the two hairpin routes to the house. It’s a thick-walled stone building with the typical roof of traditional stone slabs, and lovely views of the surrounding Alpine valleys. We had plenty of space and good facilities, though wi-fi doesn’t reach everywhere in the apartment due to wall thickness. The accommodation was well heated.
Valle d’Aosta is well known for winter sports but is also historically important as one of the main routes from France to Italy, therefore with a lot of military history and with castles everywhere. Fort Bard was a fascinating excursion which occupied most of our day.
Hotel Express Aosta East is just 500 metres from Aosta Gex Airport and next to the Aosta East A5 motorway exit. The historical centre and Roman ruins are 3 km away.

(To Italian standards anyway...) An exceptional breakfast buffte with lots of choces and eggs made fresh by the staf (to your likings). Americano coffee was fresh and delicious (but obviously normal coffee and esperesso too).
Hotel Roma is 50 metres from Aosta's pedestrian street of Via Porta Pretoria, famous for its shopping. It offers comfortable rooms, a free Wi-Fi zone and a large buffet breakfast.
