Castelrotto is a perfect base in the heart of the Dolomites and a fascinating, beautiful village in its own right. The Alpe di Siusi meadows in summer are unmissable. If you can make the drive up through the Val Gardena above Castelrotto, it is simply spectacular.

Great location to explore most of the dolomites but would recommend hiring a car if you want to venture further out. There is a bus stop opposite the hotel for shorter explorations and lots of local walks. But we wanted to do some hikes that were a little further out (eg the three peaks) and glad we had a car! Restaurants got full in the nearby towns so would recommend booking in advance - one night we had to get a takeaway as we couldn't get in anywhere! But the nearby towns are stunning and would highly recommend as a base for the dolomites in general

small, quiet village, quite picturesque, with just enough stores and restaurants to satisfy local need. Very close to beautiful ski and hiking sites, and also to Bolzano. it was a random choice for us, which proved to be very enjoyable.

Quiet and peaceful village in the Dolomites.
Quiet and peaceful village in the Dolomites. Great place to stay and go visit and drive the Dolomites and do what ever you wan to do there from hiking and biking to taking a gondola to the top of a mountain or just do scenic driving like I did. There is a great pizzeria there and a fun bar with friendly wait staff with great cocktails and most importantly delicious Italian Ice Cream. Great home base for the Dolomites area and surrounding Alps Mountains Passes. I had a beautiful BMW convertible so I did a lot of scenic driving in the area around Castelrotto.

Disclaimer: we visited during the first few weeks after the covid-19 lockdown. This means there was hardly anyone there (good), but most restaurants and hotels were closed (less good).
The village is very pretty, nestled at the end of a valley. It' a great base from which to explore the area. We stayed outside of it, in a smaller village called Tisens, a pleasant half hour hike away, so we enjoyed the view of Castelrotto.
The village has a mix of beautiful traditional buildings and incredible modern ones.
Breakfast was a great spread of meats, cereals, bread and a warm item (usually eggs). We stayed here for 3 nights as we loved this family run hotel! The breakfast server remembered our drink orders, we got to know the owners and felt very welcome. Rooms are a decent size for the price in the Dolomites (we ended up in two different rooms) with a little seating area in each of them. We loved the little town as we found the major towns in the Dolomites to be too touristy. This place felt homier and was an excellent base for nearby attractions!
Excellent location right in town, close to cafes, restaurants, and grocery store. One minute walk to bus stop that takes you to the Seiser Alm Bahn. Our apartment was super clean, modern, well-equipped, very large, and comfortable. We were lucky to have excellent weather at the end of October and we enjoyed many hikes in the area. We are already talking about when we’ll return!
Facilities including pool and many areas for lounging
Breakfast - great choice of food
Storage space in room good
Location - village lovely, with lovely walks starting there, and hotel is in the middle
Free parking place
Public transport pass provided - saved us driving hairpins and paying for parking
Hotel bar - great quality, great staff and v reasonable prices
I highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a cozy and convenient place to stay with a beautiful view. It's just a 10-minute drive to the Seiser Alm gondolas (Siusi - Alpe di Siusi). The apartment is spacious, and you'll have a parking place in a closed garage. There are excellent wifi connections.
The room was a good size, with a nice little peaceful porch. Breakfast was very good and offered a variety including bacon and eggs. The center of town is walkable for restaurants and two grocery stores. The hotel has a laundry room but we did not use it. The mini-fridge was very useful.
We loved this hotel. Peaceful and beautiful location, very good breakfast with delicious croissants and clean and comfortable rooms. What makes it exceptional is the Wellness area. The water in outside Whirlpool is very warm, we spent all the evenings soaking there.
We are grateful to the hotel owner for their assistance. Despite my late arrival, they were waiting for us. They treated the kids kindly and prepared a beautiful bed for them before our arrival. Not only that, but they also offered us a cake and were very lovely
Wonderful people working there, so kind and helpful. Fantastic breakfast selection and they will cook eggs to your preference. impeccably clean! Great location in Castlerotto. Easy to get to Seiser Alm Bahn gondola. Washer & dryer available too!
We really loved the exceptionally nice and caring hosts who provided us excellent breakfast.
The apartment is in a prime location with nice view, with good connection to nearby hiking areas such as Seiser Alm and Val Gardena.
The hotel is amazing value for money, with excellent views. The rooms are huge, well finished and fitted. As the room is also completely sound proof and has blackout blinds you will have the best sleep imaginable!
First, we like the location. The hotel was very nice. The Finnish sauna and pool were lovely after a day of skiing. The service was great! We also enjoyed the breakfasts, but missed out on enjoying their dinners.
Room was clean and spacious, staff was great! Location was also very convenient, short drive from Seiser Alm cable car, and from Ortisei. Big supermarket 5 minutes from the place. Great facilities for our kid.
Dolomites are beautiful and Castelrotto is the jewel in the crown. This aparthotel is best located to move around the Dolomites. Stay is very comfortable and the staff is caring.
