Huge room with glorious floor tiles and painted ceiling. Large comfortable bed. There was a fridge and a kettle which was great. The staff were very friendly. The location was perfect, we had 2 balconies onto the street but the room was very quiet. Loved the slightly faded elegance of the hotel. It would almost be a shame to modernise it! We would definitely stay there again.
Set in Messina centre, Hotel Touring is next to the train station and 10 minutes' walk from the harbour. It offers reading and TV lounges, a bar and air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi.

The room was really tidy and the equipment was totally amazing. I like the rest room on the second floor with the balcony. Amazing.

Unaware that ferry arrival at almost midnight was at a cargo terminal, miles from anywhere, no taxis but helped by kind crew member. Nervous as solo traveller but most accommodating receptionist guided me by phone into stay. Tramline on waterfront easy access to station.
Only stopping point to Palermo - can’t judge attractions.

Messina is a pretty city in a beautiful spot that is off the radar for most travelers.
The cathedral, rebuilt after the 1908 earthquake, is beautiful, with Byzantine mosaics in the apses that miraculously survived. The clock tower mechanical clock is spectacular even though it only operates once a day.
The regional museum is full of treasures that were salvaged from churches destroyed in the earthquake. The highlights are two Caravaggios and an Antonello da Messina triptych.
Interestingly, Messina appears not to promote itself. The tourist office seemed to always be closed. I ended up asking in shops what sights to see, how to get to them on busses, and for restaurant recommendations. Locals were very glad to help me with that information.

The town is Ok for a day & night.
The town is Ok for a day & night. The cathedral at 12pm is the biggest thing in town and it is worth a look for the curious. Note all the bars around the square have a surcharge just to sit down - which they don't advertise. Try the Sri Lankan restaurants around town, delicious food at a great price.

we only stayed 3 nights, the area we stayed was very busy not far from ferry crossings. We visited Taormina and Cefalu, 2 nearby cities. Didn't get to see much of Messina itself. Did visit beach which was very nice.

Messina doesn't have a lot of attractions - the Camponile was interesting to see at midday, as well as the Norman cathedral, for which you could really see the Mudejar influence - something I found surprising for Italy.
OTOH, it also means there were fewer tourists about, which suited us to a tee.
If you are into hiking, it looks like the mountains above the city would have some nice trails with views out over both the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas.
Stayed here as we arrived late from a ferry in Malta and we were worried we wouldn't catch the ferry to mainland. Good place to stay if you have a car - private spacious parking was available. Room okay, pet-friendly, breakfast decent-enough (not amazing but certainly had MUCH worse in Italy - at least you got some savoury items here). Overall good value for money and decent place for a stop-over before catching the ferry (a little bit of a drive still but manageable).
We liked the host very much. Very helpful and kind. The roms, the bed and sofabed was comfortable. The kitchen had what we needed to make dinner. Our kids liked the free potato chips we received when we arrived. A small and simple beach is just outside. The view to mainland Italy was beautiful. You get a cupong each for €3 each to eat breakfast at the resturant next door. A very good supermarked is very close by too. We bought our dinner there.
FuoriSquadra was a treasure accommodation! The B&B is quiet, ideally located with an incredible view, large, modern rooms with 5 star amenities. Eva has an ample, typical Italian breakfast of an assortment of pastries, yogurt, coffee, tea and juices. The common area of the B&B is wonderfully laid out and furnished, with a huge deck looking out over the Straight of Messina. Charming, comfortable and relaxing. The decor is chic and upscale.
Beautifully designed hotel with the wonderful mix of history and contemporary design. Excellent shower and comfortable bed. For us it was an opportunity for quiet relaxation before heading back to North Italy. We were given excellent advice on restaurants, cafes and significant places of interest to visit. Kind and thoughtful hospitality from the people running the hotel.
The host and his family were amazing. We arrived in Messina on the day of a huge concert, and there were no cabs available. The host drove to us at the ferry station on his scooter, helped us find the tram, drove alongside the tram, and had his wife meet us at the tram stop to take us to the B&B. They were so kind, and we remain so grateful. The room was fantastic too!
It's a 10-15 minute walk from Messina Central station. You have to communicate your arrival time especially if you arrive late or very early because there's no reception. The big door is locked and you cannot get inside without contacting the owner. The room we have is spacious, clean and has a private bathroom. The view on the terrace that I love.
Everything about Dolce Vita was outstanding. Angelo met us at the door and made us feel welcome. The room was lovely, and sparkling clean, with coffee for the morning. Location is convenient to sightseeing, parking is manageable, building is secure. Breakfast was by voucher to a nearby cafe. We would recommend this spot to anyone visiting Messina.
This is a really nice apartment in Messina located a short walk to the historic centre. The Botanical garden down the street was a real treat. The hosts are very responsive to any concerns, and acted quickly to rectify some missing amenities. In fact, they really went the extra mile to make me happy. Everything in the apartment seem very new.
Really clean, lovely room with ensuite, desk area, nice bed linen. Other than lack of natural light it was like a hotel room.
Kitchen available where you can make tea/coffee.
As others have mentioned, the lady who serves breakfast is very nice.
The location is ok, but is up a long hill. Next time I'd choose a place closer to the rail station.
the room was quite big and it has all kinds of facilities. The staff was helpful and the best thing is that the checking time is available till 12 Am. everything works and it's a very perfect location and near to the Messina railway station and port are which are at a walkable distance of 3 Min.
This property is so beautiful and clean. The staff are amazing and very helpful. The location is great, 3klm from main train station. The tram is close by to see other areas in Messina.
The staff was very nice but there was a big noise in the morning because they are repairing something at the hotel so it was impossible to rest the way we wanted/ planed to.
The Hotel and rooms are extraordinary!
The service is incredible and the staff is extremely nice and helpfull. I felt at home and will be coming back for sure!
