Perfect place as a mid-point in a long drive. Virtually ZERO to do, including only a gas station grocery only. But as a "motel 6" type option, it was better than average.

The two guys that run this place have apparently taken it on in the last couple of years and are very enthusiastic, friendly and helpful.
There is a pool table in the main “hall” area.
And the breakfast was delicious (there’s a waffle maker!)
Dinner can also be provided but you need to give 48hrs notice

What a place! We were greeted by Oskar and his dog and given the grand tour which far exceeded our expectations. Oskar had clearly poured his heart and soul into the place and it showed. It had a very homely feel. The bedroom was comfortable with proper blinds that kept the light out. The bathroom was immaculate and well finished, there was even a lounge room upstairs for guests to chill in. The kitchen was well equipped and well labelled. Oskar gave us great tips on nearby attractions which we would otherwise have missed. He was easily the best host on our 15 day tour of Iceland!
The greatest highlight of this guesthouse was obviously the arctic foxes that came out to play in the evening. We spent hours in the field photographing them, they came right up to us.

Big spacious cottage, self check-in, heated floors, fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher, good shower, comfy bed, tv, interior far exceeds our expectations. Host was very responsive.
This hotel was easy to find off the main Route 1. Accommodation was on the basic side, however it was clean and tidy. 24/7 tea & coffee available from the dining area. Staff were friendly and assisted where necessary. Reasonable buffet breakfast. It is more on the expensive side compared to other hotels we had stayed in but due to its location, it appears to be reasonably priced. There is plenty of off road parking. The village itself is quite compact but there is a lack of local restaurants. We can recommend the Sjavarborg Restaurant, on the quayside for evening meal.

We only stayed a night, arriving in a blizzard. It was absolutely stunning, the hot tub and sauna in the snow were simply breath-taking. We didn't even get a chance to check out Hvammstangi, unfortunately, but next time I will definitely stay here again!

We loved everything: the cottage, the view, the nice short talk with the owner, the aurora on our second evening!
The main restaurant at the village near the cottage is pricy but very good: save for it if needed, it is worth it (and needed as there is no kitchen in the cottage 😉).
The water could be ice cold at first, be patient, it will soon be (very) warm. Talk to the owner before your stay, it will explain the reason better than me!
One last point: the owner talked about a path to go to the shore of the fjord, but we didn't found it. Make sure he explain it to you clearly.

We stayed here for one night.
We stayed here for one night. We where a little concerned considering the remote area of the country. The owner greeted us very kindly and made us feel like at home. Once you step in you can feel the love she has put in to this place. I was really happy on how clean the house is. The bed limens where so clean and ironed. ♥️ the backyard was adorable. She had waffles for us and a home made jelly made. ♥️

Just a short walk out of town but far enough to be quiet and private. Guesthouse was a wonderful surprise. Modern, clean and a very well equipped kitchen for guests. Host even threw a pot of coffee on in the morning. Full fjord view from our bedroom. Turned out to be one of our best overnights in Iceland.
Well-equipped kitchen with various spices available (you will need to take your own cooking oil), no breakfast but they do provide bread, jam also tea and coffee for guests. Host Eva is very kind, she generously shared some cooking oil with us for our dinner. The location of this guesthouse is perfect for road trip on route 711. The house is very tidy and it is a quiet, cosy and light pollution free place to stay. We got a room with nice fjord view (no luck with aurora though, maybe next time :D)
The hotel sign was large so we didn't miss the hotel. It was a bit different to let the hotel people know we arrived by calling a number from the reception phone. I hadn't realized they had sent an email with the needed information since I had been driving and hadn't checked email. The room looked as advertised. It was nice, very clean. Breakfast was nicely displayed with many choices. Nice spread for only 4 customers.
This is a standard hostel, with some good and some not so good parts. Rooms were large and there was plenty of bathrooms, although they didn't smell to good. The bad part was the kitchen, which is too small for the number of guests, and didn't even have a pan. All in all not a terrible experience, but for sure the worst hostel we saw so far in the 7 days we spent in iceland, also considering value for money
A great location on a farm, just next to a peninsula with its fair share of attractions (go check out the nearby Seal Center in Hvammstangi for a better understanding of the region's cutest mammal before driving around Vatnsnes to spot some seals lounging on rocks). Andrea was a very welcoming host, I really enjoyed talking with her and the breakfast was a nice bonus.
Very clean and relatively new one bedroom flat a few minutes walk from the town center (e.g. Seal Center). Pull out couch is classic Ikea, typical of so many short stay hotels. Shower and kitchen were nice. Speedy Wifi. Close to the town pool, which we enjoyed. This is our choice overnight pit-stop when we drive from Reykjavik to Akuyeri.
Loved the size of the home. We rented two homes for our family of 5 and it was by far the best value for our trip for a fraction of the price of the cramped hotels we stayed at during our 9 day road trip. If there was more to do in the area we would have used it as a home base. If we return we would def. stay here again.
A beautiful spot just off the ring road. The guesthouse is very homely with some quirky decor. Room was nice and clean, bathroom was well stocked and had a powerful shower. Bed was comfy, there was no tea making facilities in the room, but no problem because we had a delicious breakfast with freshly cooked cinnamon rolls!
Every thing was fine ,quirky hotel , host was great would have marked this up a lot more but our room was smelly from foul plumbing in the bathroom , Im not sure if this an issue with the other rooms but our room 11 whilst great clean and comfortable just marred by that.Breakfast was good and restaurant meal also
For a couple, this cottage is just amazing and absolutely perfect in every way. It was the best accommodation during our entire Iceland trip. Everything from the cottage itself, the interior design and layout and the exceptional view on the surrounding area makes this a special experience.
Highly recommended.
This guest house is a gem. A sweeping view of the fiord, a tiny picturesque church and graveyard nearby, and lovely vintage Icelandic furniture, dishes, and decorative touches. Scrupulously clean and tidy with a well-appointed kitchen. I wish I had booked more than one night
Located in a remote area this guesthouse has amazing setting. Everything inside is immaculate, clean and well thought. Kitchen has everything you need and common areas are quite spacious. This was one of the best guesthouses we stayed in Iceland.
Great breakfast as you would experience in a luxury hotel, but in a comfy home setting, exceeding our expectations.
The hostess was super-nice.
So many small details to make a memorable experience for our stay. Highly recommend staying here.
I stayed there before really liked the place. This time one of the rooms had a leakage in the bathroom area, and the staff was able to change the room instantly for which I am very grateful. Overall I always liked this hotel!
Located in a beautiful village, away from the major tourist spots, quite and peaceful. Gave us a more authentic Icelandic feel. The cottage is not big, but has everything we need and offers compete privacy.
Beautiful guesthouse with sauna and whirlpool. Very uncomplicated and very friendly owners. They put waffle mix and home made jam in the kitchen for us. Many different teas and coffee too!
