The lodge was delightful, cosy and a home from home. Tastefully decorated with lots of unique and quirky features. We had absolutely everything we could possibly need , including linen, towels, coffee machine, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher. The garden was so lovely. Location was perfect and near to pubs, restaurants and the sea front. Plenty of space for a family of six and a dog without being on top of each other. The host was excellent and checked we were OK right from booking to when we stayed. The complimentary gifts and treats on arrival were a lovely touch. We look forward to retuning later in the year.

They send you the front door and room door codes in advance and ask for a photo of your ID, so check in is swift. I arrived slightly early and was allowed to go to the room. The beds are the best hostel bunk beds I've found. You have a light, charger point and under bed storage. There is head room and even room to put things at the side of your bunk. The room is not cramped either. There are two female only dorms with two showers and one toilet completely separate.
Friendly staff and atmosphere.Evening entertainment put on for every night that I was there. Comfy beds and rooms cleaned daily.. Great location and easy to get to the town and beach. It is cheap and cheerful and perfect for my budget.
- Friendly staff - Great location at the top of Wind Street - Close to train and bus station, shops, bars, clubs, beach and loads of restaurants - Great amenities such as full communal kitchen and living room which was very handy even just to warm up for bought earlier - Very clean - Comfortable and felt safe to stay and leave our stuff - Cheap and cheerful
Amazing looking Hostel for such good price not expensive.Perfect for backpackers. the building looked like a Victorian era building and it was very clean. The bunk beds were comfy too
Freshly refurbished rooms with new bathrooms. My friend who travels a lot around the world and stay in a lot of hostels said, I quote: "This is one of the best hostels I've stayed in". Great facilities, great location.
Great location, great atmosphere for a self-catered stay, and an interesting history as the first youth hostel in the UK. Staff were a delight and couldn't ask for more in terms of the price!
Great budget hotel, clean and comfortable with everything we needed for a cheap stay. Helpful staff member on the check in desk who helped us with some local advice and ordered us a cab. It cost £6 to get a cab to the station and then a ten minute train gets you into Cardiff city centre. A cab back after midnight was around £40. There is also loads of parking and it’s right off the M4.
Friendly Staff that were happy to help. Great location with plenty of shops and restaurant within walking distance. Was perfect for what we needed. Great Hostel for climbers wanting cheap accommodation.
Fantastic accommodation if you are travelling on a tighter budget and don't mind sharing your room, afterall what are hostels and bunkhouses for? Great location for exploring Snowdonia but above all absolutely fantastic service from the friendly staff. Their homemade pizzas are tremendous too, highly recommend.
As far as hostels go, it’s pretty good. No communal areas other than a very busy bar used by the public. More outdoor seating means less car parking which is tricky during peak times. No bedding etc supplied. But staff friendly, great location and cheap as chips!
