Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaNothing negative about this place! It is value for money and comfortable and super clean. Some rooms didn't have plates or cups or a kettle but the owners provided whatever you wanted if you asked.
Rooms were large with comfortable king size beds. Shower was good. (For Indian travelers - there is a hygiene faucet in every bathroom which is another plus !) Lovely balcony with a sofa or day bed or chairs and table depending on which room you had. One room even had a bookcase filled with books to while your time away. The best thing is that the house is in a lovely garden with a fish pond - beautiful and serene! The owners are warm and welcoming and made sure we had all we needed. Location is perfect - One side of the homestay opens onto a side road where you can have a car drop you off or pick you up - the other side you can go down to the art market and city center via stairs (stairs are somewhat steep and not recommended for older people) and do your shopping in the art market that is not even 600 m away...

United KingdomFor the money we paid, I can honestly say that nothing was an issue. We went budget, we got budget, and it was better than we would normally expect. Clean, nice bed, working aircon, hot power shower. Highly recommended.
Nice local couple own and run the place. We ordered 3 doubles. All were slightly different prices, and slightly different sizes. But all were great value. There was a bath, but the plug did not work (it did not seal, so the bath could not be filled), but loads of high pressure hot water for a power shower. The AC struggled but cooled the room by 9pm. The free parking is only until the morning, when the car must be moved. But good enough for us. Nice garden.

United KingdomNothing, really. I found Ubud excessively touristic and maniac, and Ben's homestay is an oasis of tranquillity in the chaos of the town.
We really enjoyed the breakfast; it may not have all the choices of a big hotel (because it's a homestay!) but it's individually cooked and quality is superior. Rooms were super clean, the house is very charming (proper Balinese experience) and location is perfect - a short walk to the main streets. Ben is really nice and can help you organise any trip, transfer, guided visit that you can think of. I think his prices are a bit high: this is not necessarily a bad thing (e.g. maybe he offers higher quality than others), you just to be aware so you know what you are accepting.

SingaporeIt's a bit of a stretch for me to find something I don't like to be honest, but if I needed to say something, the walk up the hill may not be everyone's cup of tea, and for a few nights I had a more loud group of guests in another room that then apologised.
Ben's Homestay is located within a neighbourhood that inhabits No. 35 of Jln. Suweta. Jln Suweta is a street that goes slightly uphill from Ubud palace, so going downtown is as simple as walking out of the neighbourhood, down the hill, and you'll find yourself in the central bustle of Ubud. If you want to take it easy, Jln. Suweta and Jln Kajeng (which you can get to from the backdoor exit of the neighbourhood) are more toned down and quiet, and a small but ample number of warungs (local restaurants), restaurants, ice cream, and convenience stores with all the essentials. Oh and the toilet was spacious and had a bathtub for a shower, which I feel is pretty rare at this price point! Also, I must say that it the homestay is managed by a very earnest and warm family. The wifi router was just outside my room and was the most stable out of all the places I stayed in Bali.

Perfectly located close to Ubud’s main street in a very quiet and serene surrounding Ben’s homestay was my favourite! Beautiful garden with fish pond, newly decorated spacious room with terrace, big comfortable bathroom, super comfy bed/ pillows, very clean throughout and excellent value for money. Stayed 6 nights and didn’t want to leave, thank you Ben and family for creating such a lovely space.

LatviaA bit too humid inside the room (~75-80%), but I guess there’s not much you can do about it. You get used to it, and aircon works absolutely fine. Internet is laggy, so if you want to work from here, probably it’s not the right place. But if you want to slow down and disconnect from everything - come and stay at Ben’s!
I loved the place so much that I decided to extend my stay for 5 more days. Ben and his mom are the loveliest people! Homemade breakfast is amazing, the garden is huge and beautiful. I spent hours just chilling outside of my room on a couch with a book, just listening to the small fountain and nature sounds. Location is great, everything is close by! I found a few warungs in 5 minute walking distance, there are Alfamart, Indomaret, Circle-K, amazing massage (Putu Parwati massage), Wayan Silver Class workshop where you can make yourself a unique ring, fruit stands, Unud Palace and street with all the restaurants.

BelgiumI had a great stay at Ben’s Homestay! The room was very spacious and clean. The location is close to the city center but still the place is very quiet in a nice garden. Bonus: the location is just a few minutes (if you exit from behind) away from the Kajeng Rice Field walk which was my favorite activity in Ubud :-)

SpainExceptional stay, Ben and his wife Putu were very kind hosts, made us feel welcome and home. It's a wonderful homestay setting, you enter from the main street and have the feeling you are in a village, all you hear from that point on is bird chirping and burbling water, very rich vegetation everywhere, everything is well maintained with care. The room and terrace were spacious, bright and clean. The room was cleaned every day. Great location, you can get to all interesting places, restaurants and markets easily, you can access the property from the main street or from a back street walking up some stairs. Breakfast and food options available, Ben can also rent you a motorbike for a good price, all is very family like, there's no reception but there's always someone around for anything you need. Beautiful local experience, diving into a Balinese homestay. We will definitely be back next time we are in Ubud, one of the most positive stays we had on our travels. Thank you for your hospitality, good luck and best wishes!
